Poet's Note: There was a shower over my head as the shampoo was being washed away. Naturally I couldn't open my eyes without screaming my lungs out, so I was blind for a moment. I apologize if I've totally misunderstood what it's like to be blind. And maybe I'm being rather plain and insensitive. If so, please help me make this better, thanks ![]()
---
Iwouldn't mind being blind
If only for just a while,
While riding the train
While surfing my brain
I wouldn't mind,
If only for just a while
Not to say,
I'm not happy,
Not that I don't appreciate
Sight's great, it's a wonderfully...
Wonderful thing, sight.
On the other hand...
Being blind could be fun,
You appreciate things around you,
And you notice things around you,
In clearer sight, than any
Than HD or 3D,
I wouldn't mind, if only for a while
The people around me,
Us blessed see-ers,
We pity the sight impaired,
But have we ever thought to think,
What they, the blind, think?
The blind do not discriminate,
On race, nor your perfect face,
And true, they weep for their condition
I would too,
But maybe they should smile:
For the sunset they feel
For the smiles that they can hear
For the smell of rain on one powerfully abstract afternoon...
Perhaps, I'm mad,
Because I sometimes envy the blind.
But if you ask me,
They've got it good,
They've got the real sweet deal,
Because they can see, the wood for the trees,
They can see beyond straight light,
They can see the smiles in heaven
They can see straight through your heart.

Sometimes I envy the blind, too. I loved this, I love it because it is a great subject to write about. And sometimes, seriously, my thoughts wonder to the same thing. And this is a great way of putting what I think. Good job!!!
This is my favorite part. I really like this.
You really got into the shoes of a blind man dude! It seemed so natural when I read it, like you wrote this poem with a flow and at the same time not finding any flaws in it. Its great! Keep it rolling man!
good point. would poeple worry so much about what we looked like if we couldnt see? i think not. good job.
Maybe I've misread the notion, but I can kind of relate to the feelings conveyed in this poem. In a way. I suppose if we were blind, we wouldn't have to erase horrible sights from our minds. We could listen to nature and our natural surroundings and not take the beauty of them for granted. But perhaps sight is something we take for granted. I mean, where would we be without it? We wouldn't be able to grace the beauty of things without sound. Like flowers, they don't make noise. Would we even know they are there without sight? Here I am, ranting again >.<

I liked this poem, even if I don't completely agree with it. Good work
WOW! This was really beautiful! You have a talent in poetry... Your piece is flowing so easily! It doesn't make the reader feel as if you strained to make out each sentence... These were my favorite stanzas, they have remarkable metaphors and the language is so simple:
^ Way to go! Just praise, nothing else! Looking forward to reading your next opuses.
wonderful! the only thing i have to say is add some periods to make it flow better. i didnt know where one sentence bagan and the other ended. other than that is was beautiful. you have a very different perspective on things and that makes for AHmazing poetry.
