Dear ....,
Dear? Dear what? I guess Juliet had it right on the famous balcony scene. "What's in a name? That which we call a rose/By any other word would smell as sweet." If Romeo had any other name other than Montague, she would love him just as much. He would be the same person. So why did that name have to keep them apart? Your name doesn't matter to me, and I'm pretty sure you already know your own name. So if it's all the same to you, I'll leave it out.
This isn't Romeo and Juliet, Shakespeare's most famous play, and probably the most famous play ever written. You don't love me back. And why would you? I once heard this quote. You know how I love my quotes. It's from Gossip Girl "Blair, you will never be more beautiful or thin or happy than you are right now. I just want you to make the most of it." My name isn't Blair, but Eleanor (her mother) had a point when she said this. And this applies to me. I will never be as beautiful or as thin or as happy as I am right now. So why don't I feel beautiful or thin or happy? That answer is simple really.
I don't feel thin because well... I'm not. I'm getting thinner, and my figure is improving, but I will never be gorgeous. I don't feel beautiful because I grew up with kids telling me that I'm not. You don't see me as beautiful. The reason I'm not happy is because of that. You never looked at me like that. Loving you is such a roller coaster ride. I have so many questions, ones that you won't answer. Dear, you know how much I love asking questions. I should rephrase that. I don't love asking questions. I love getting the answers to questions. That's something I never get from you.
So don't give me the answers. Ignore me until you decide you need me. Keep on saying nothing every time I remind you of how I feel. I know we are just friends. So I'm going to stay quiet. I'll always be here when you need me, even if you don't do the same for me. I will always listen, even if you can't answer my questions. And I will always be your crutch, your safety net, until you feel strong enough to go out into the world and take what's yours. I'll do it all gladly. I'll watch while you hurt me again and again, and I'll love you for it even.
But you don't know any of this. Because you will never read this letter. I will never print it, and send it to you. I will never tell you how I can hear the shards of my heart hit the floor as you break it. I will never tell you about the words that never quite came to my lips. And you will never understand because this letter is just one of many that will never arrive.
Love,
........
PS. Juliet also had a point when she said "Romeo, Romeo, whereafore art thou Romeo?"

Whoa. This is just so sad and straight-to-the-truth. I loved every minute of it: the grammar, sentence fluency, wording, emotion, etc. I'm really glad I read this because you held my attention with this one. It wasn't so lovey-dovey and cheesy like I expected it to be. You know, the typical "You broke my heart and I will never live again" sappy stuff. This is simply amazing and i think you've done a wonderful job on it. Bravo! Excellent job!
Wow. Another masterpiece. I'm usually never into a depressing/cold-hard-truth style story, but I did like this one. All the usual stuff was there. Great grammer, great sentence fluency, all that boring jazz. But that's not what made it interesting. What made it interesting was your ability to capture and hold my attention, like a canary to a birdwatcher, or a fly to a certain carnivorous plant. I just hope that if I ever have a girlfriend, she doesn't feel this way, and if she does - which I would obviously try to avoid - she tells me. Great read. Thanks for that.
your day will come. Thank you for your compliments!
Anytime. And thanks for the faith. That's very much appreciated. XD
The writing in this piece is fantastic. You've created a realistic and engaging voice, and you managed to draw me in right from the first sentence, and I was captivated until the end. It actually left me wanting to read more, but it didn't feel lacking. You have very successfully managed to let the reader empathise with the narrator, and also get a great deal of understanding about the situation in such a short piece.
I loved the juxtaposition of the Romeo and Juliet quote against the Gossip Girl quote. Even though the two are wildly different eras, it really worked.
I don't have any complaints. It was excellent.
Hi,
For starters, I quite well understand get what you're feeling because I'm going through something similar. I won't say I get it completely because it is always different for every person, but I sort-of know. So, sending you love and warmth from my side.
I remember the scene from Gossip Girl, that you mentioned, and I'd never really thought it could mean so much to someone. Guess I was wrong!
Your tone is flawless, and it had it's own style. It reads like a narrative, a very personal diary, which doesn't let out much, but says it all at the same time.
I really lik
Good! I'm glad!
MysteryMe, here for a review!!!!

This is great, it really is. The tone you wrote in was flawless, and you had me believe down to the last sentence that you were really this heartbroken, teenage girl. This is a really hard thing to do with first person point of view, specifically for me, and you did it marvelously. Job well done.
I really love all your wording and detail. The idea itself isn't too original, but you wrote it in a way that really gave it a unique twist. I'm usually not one for sappy teen romance, or tragic teen heartbreak, but you did this perfectly. It was impossible not to like this.
My favorite part was the last paragraph...
"But you don't know any of this. Because you will never read this letter. I will never print it, and send it to you. I will never tell you how I can hear the shards of my heart hit the floor as you break it. I will never tell you about the words that never quite came to my lips. And you will never understand because this letter is just one of many that will never arrive."
Just... brilliant. Perfect way to end this. The 'words that never quite came to my lips' part really gave me goosebumps, and the 'this letter is just one of many...' left me speechless.
Overall, this was a short, yet impressive, story. You should be proud of this
Hope this helped!!!! Keep writing!
Thank you. And the reason I was able to convince you that I'm a heartbroken teenage girl is... well... I kind of am. So I'm glad you enjoyed this
I totally understand this story. I actually went through this recently and it is very hard. I love how you portrayed how hard it truly is. To love and care about someone so much only to watch it backfire into your face. It truly does cause a heart to break, it also does the heart to yearn more for that other person...and it can also cause a lot of anger/disappointment.
Your writing was so well that u could understand where the character was coming from and I could see myself in this. It was perfect to me.
