A Plagiarized Work

Online forums for writers had addicted this guy
An average writer he was, but he wanted the limelight.

Working hard was not his style, the quick way was to plagiarize,
The risk of getting caught had haunted him for a while.

'Stop plagiarism!' was the perfect piece to plagiarize!
Who in the world will think, a work on plagiarism was actually plagiarized.

He copied the entire text and posted it on a site
He received rave reviews and won the attention for a while

He flaunted his fake work and decided to continue the trend,
Till he discovered one day, that his plagiarized work itself got plagiarized!

The duplicated work had received even more attention,
His heart was burning because he couldn’t complain about it.

The original writer wasn’t even aware, about this chain of crooks,
He was happy with his little success which was written with clean heart

The original petty thief however was following the second crook
He wanted to stop this chain, and was thinking of a plan

“I think, it’s time to do something original.
I know my poor work shall never be copied!"

He wrote an original poem, which won him lots of praises
The crook tried to duplicate it, but got busted this time.

The journey of writing a poem, made him realize,
‘How wrong it was to copy someone who pours his heart into a work.’

He opened the “Stop plagiarism” article and read it aloud
Each sentence in that work got tears out of his eyes

He decided to give up this practice of taking someone’s credit
He contacted the author and apologized for his deeds

The surprised author graciously thanked him for accepting his mistake
“Never repeat this,” he pronounced and ended his call

As he hung the phone, the author thought for a while
“I think this guy is right, I should apologize to the one from whom I have plagiarized!”

I really enjoyed the mood of the poem. It was funny and amusing, yet had a message jumbled in there somewhere as well. I really don't have anything negative so say, so well done!

Do you just go around on every spotlight work and say bad things?

My taste is a bit more refined you see.

Whether or not your taste is 'refined' is your opinion, but your comment not only said nothing of use to the author of this piece, it also indirectly insulted the taste of everyone who did like it, and saying things like that is neither helpful nor refined. It is crude and nasty. There is really no point to comments like these.

No preaching please.

I think I heard a song that describes how I feel about this whole chain. Let me find it.

Seriously sir. If you didn't like the piece there was no reason to start a controversy.
Be kind to the writers on this site, because there is not reason to be cruel and nasty.

@Everyone

This guy has a history of writing nasty reviews. Read his review on a work "Please vote for me." Nastiest review I have ever seen.

Okay, I change my last line. Not every spot light work is bad. This guy is way overrated!

Transporter. Please. I understand your taste is refined. But that's a really nice way to put it. And although you ask us to stop preaching, I would like to say it was for good reason.

It's a good poem, funny and tells a message. It rhymes which is nice. I like how the words are simple and make it easy to read. It's understandable enough that I could read it to my friends who don't like reading and they would understand and like it. It's really good simple but powerful and funny. Good job.

Awesome job!
I enjoyed this piece very much! It had humor, development, and a good message thrown in there. As far as I saw, there were no grammatical errors of any kind. I don't believe I have any thing negative to say about this! Overall, you did a great job. No wonder this was Literary Spotlight!
I do have to say that I feel a bit sorry for the original author of the article. :(
I hope to read more from you soon!

This isn't really a review, since I couldn't find a single thing wrong with this... :)

As you might be able to tell by my poems, I love humorous, light hearted poems, and this made my day! I like that you still kept it in rhythm, without making it too constricting (as I tend to do). So, overall, love love love it!!! Congratulations on getting this in the spotlight too!

Even I get caught with rhymes. I deliberately gave up rhyming for this piece. I'm glad you liked it. Even I like Light hearted funny poems. WIll check out some of your poems!

Hi, Dr. FeelGood! (Nice name, by the way.)

Excellent language! Also, nice job incorporating irony into your piece. However, you should think about the expression "show, not tell". This is important because most of your piece is basic narration.

A question: why did you make this into a poetic format? I feel as if this would be stronger if you didn't limit yourself to line breaks, and added some more punctuation. Yes, poems allow you to express yourself with less boundaries, but this piece would be definitely more enjoyable if I didn't have to focus on the way your lines ended, etc.

If you would like to keep this in a poetic format, why not add some rhyme or more rhythm? (I know that I'm the one to talk--my poems have barely any rhythm themselves. But still!)

Please continue to make such inspired pieces, keeping in mind some of the feedback I've given you here. :)

I have been doing rhyme poems for quite a while. This was a deliberate attempt to give up rhyme. I get what you mean by show and tell. Will try to better it the nezt time around. Thanks for feed back.

Hello. I really liked this piece. It is really good and I love how you based it nicely on the theme.

Well, I did find an error. I think it was just a typing mistake though.

'The risk of getting got had haunted him for a while'

I believe the 'got' in that sentence should be 'caught'. Is it?

Overall, I think you did a good job on this piece and thank you for a good read.

P.S. I haven't reviewed in a while so my reviewing skills are rusty.

Yeah, it was typo. Thanks for pointing it out. :)
