Lady of the Mists

by Liaya

In Poetry

She comes from over the sea,

Draped in silver silk

With tiny diamonds glittering on her brow.

She sweeps on in silence,

A veil about her face and shoulders.

She drifts over the shore and into the forest,

Her hands brushing crystal drops onto pine needles,

Decorating ferns and brush

To glitter in the silver light.

Her voice is soft and quiet

And her touch like an embrace;

She cloaks the forest in her gray robes

And shrouds the sun from view.

This poem is really well written, I enjoyed the visualisation that I got from this. It was very beautiful and serene. I suggest you keep writing, that air of mysterious nature is, for me, one of the best things a poet can create.
There are minor errors though, but not so that it would annoy a reader. Just punctuation.

I really liked the poem though there are a few errors here and there. Not major mistakes just minor and this was the best of all your I have read. So let me start reviving:-
In the first two lines:-
"She comes from over the sea

Draped in silver silk"

You could add a comma to the first sentence :-
"She comes from over the sea,

Draped in silver silk"

That makes more sense. :)

These lines seemed a bit weird for the reader to read :-
"Her hands brushing crystal drops onto pine needles,"
Especially the words brushing crystal. What does that mean? Any way try changing that like twisting the words here and there to give it a better look.

Rest all is fine and honestly speaking your title really lured me into this piece. You did a great job and I am waiting to see more from you.
KEEP WRITING :)

Hi Liaya, here is Dark to give review on your poem.

First of all,I love how you give the character of the mists here. What I understand about your poem is a symbolism of the mists itself with a lady.--That is why the title is Lady of the Mists?(OMG,it was so awesome!)I like the way you use simile and metaphor that makes your poem more 'sweet' and interesting to read here.Thats mean, you have a strong diction here.Your poem is just simple but astounding, understandable and pretty with images. It also stimulate my six senses here,Lol.

My favorite lines is here;

# She drifts over the shore and into the forest

Her hands brushing crystal drops onto pine needles,

Overall,I will give you 10/10.I mean this poem should be featured!
Keep writing and good job.
Kudos,cheers
~Dark

OK, great description here! This poem hooks you the first line. The comparison of a lady and mist went together great, and I loved the story of how the mist comes from the sea through the forests.
The whole poem gives an eerie and mystical sense; I love that. But I do feel you could have so much more. It seems as if the mist just stops existing. I'd like more explanation as to what happens to it? Where does it go? You have room for so much more than you have, which could make it an even better poem.
Keep it up!

Thanks for the suggestions and the review, Malachi! I'm working on extending the poem a bit and giving it a better ending.

This sounds like the beginnings of a really cool lay. Like, this was seriously reminiscent of Tolkien, except enjoyable to read [I don't typically like poetry, but this was a lay I would read if you made it one]. I really liked the image, and when I reached the end I was like, "??? Why'd you stop? That was good! Aw..." So major sad face that you just stopped. I wanted more. Where'd she come from? Where's she going? What's the rest of the world like? What's she going to do? I wanna read more...*waaaaaaaaaa*

I'm done.

Lol. I want to write more, don't worry! I'm just trying to figure it out. Thanks for the review!

Haha I can relate to the "why'd you stop" part! :P

Hey! :D It's Storm here with a quick review.

I love the comparison you made with the mist to a lady! You pulled it all together really well, considering it isn't a typical metaphor. The imagery and wording was beautiful and well-placed, and I didn't discover any mechanical or grammatical errors. :D However, there are a few tiny corrections that can be made.

You wrote:

She comes from over the sea

Draped in silver silk

With tiny diamonds glittering on her brow.

Because of the lack of commas after "sea" and "silk", the phrase becomes confusing. The sea isn't draped in silk! Be sure to add a comma following those two words.

Other than that, it was great! It's a beautiful poem, Liaya. :D

As always: write on!

Hi there. Ariana with your review. Now to start off, I think you did a great job here. Your title lured me and the subject matter was quite interesting. I liked the idea of this mysterious "lady of the mist". With that being said, I also think you did a fairly decent job with your figurative language. It was rarely ever vague and you crrated an image in my mind. I do have a few suggestions though. Also I have a statement to make about thr ending. It seemed somewhat abrupt. I felt like there should have been more. In addition, you talked about "fray robes". That part just didn't make that much sense to me. What were you meaning to say? Other than that, I have no further comments. This was a great, unique start.

Liaya replied · Sep 9, 2013

All right, I agree with you about the ending. I'm still trying to figure out that part! Any suggestions you might have are welcome. What it says is "gray robes" and I'm just trying to add more comparing the mist to a lady. Thanks for the review!
