The Meaning

-

Sorrow ceases to be an endless sea

And dries up under the fiery sun

No longer silent and lonely,

But bursting forth in joyful song.

Death is no longer as blackest night

But recognized as brightest day,

The exciting next step to new life,

Thrust forth on wings of wonder.

-

Thus let it be known in all things;

Life is as wonderful as the sweetest dream

And its meaning defined by death.

-

Close Your Eyes

If I can close my eyes and see

A forest glade, a lofty tree

Mist arising in languid tendrils,

Enrapturing us in the glorious morn,

Shrouding us in mystical wishes,

Leading us into a wakeless forest of dreams,

Then

Close your eyes and you will see

Whatever you may wish to see.

-

If I can close my eyes and see

Golden grasses waving mirthfully

With the sun lighting them ablaze

As it submerges behind violet mountains,

Majestic, craggy, whispering paths

Stretching along their stony forms,

Then

Close your eyes and you will see

Whatever you may wish to see.

-

If I can close my eyes and see

A universe beneath the ocean deep

Of meandering blues and lustrous stars,

And cabalistic designs of light

Weaving a solemn spirits' dance

Upon silver sands of effervescent desires,

Then

Close your eyes and you will see

Whatever you may wish to see.

-

If I can close my eyes and see

Albescent pillars towering above me

Their ancient stones battered and derelict,

Holding within them archaic enchantments

Which clash upon your ears,

Clamoring in perpetual, slumberous silence,

Then

Close your eyes and you will see

Whatever you may wish to see.

-

If I can close my eyes and see

White flame caged within the ice,

All shades of palest blue and silver,

Burnished in the blue light of a new sun,

Magnificent palaces of frigid crystal

Pierced by the powerful True Light,

Then

Close your eyes and you will see

Whatever you may wish to see.

-

If I can close my eyes and see

The faces of all those dear to me,

With your golden eyes embracing me,

And precious ones laughing,

Dancing upon hills of fire,

Then

Close your eyes and you will see

Whatever you may wish to see.

-

Fly

Perch at the edge,

Feel the wind ruffle your feathers,

Look down, over the edge,

Feel exhilaration, not fear

As you imagine

Stretching your wings,

Watching the ground

Rush towards you.

-

Throw out your arms,

Catch the wind,

You're nearly prepared

To throw yourself

From the safety of this earth

And fall into the sky,

Or dive into the depths below,

Until you start to soar.

-

Back away slowly,

Thoughtfully judging distance,

Then close your eyes.

You don't need to see.

Stretch your wings,

Crouch, muscles tensed

Ready to take off,

Ready to run hard and fast.

-

Leap into action;

Feel the ground beneath your feet,

Do not open you eyes.

Stretch wings towards the sky,

Feel the ground vanish—

Stomach rushes to throat,

And then the wind catches

Beneath your wings.

-

Fly.

Out of all of these, Fly was my favorite. My breath caught in my throat and I didn't let exhale until a few moments after I read the last word. And how funny that I'm typing this as a fan is blowing in my face, so when I read Fly I felt the wind ruffling my feathers as I soared the skies, free as can be.

So I guess I'm kind of reviewing only Fly. Hmm.

The Meaning was a very thoughtful poem, and I liked it a lot. It's true. Or should I say it's truth? :S

Anyways, Close Your Eyes was a very nice poem as well. Close your eyes and and you will see, Whatever you may wish to see. I do that a lot. ^-^ Hehe.

Hugs,
Wonder

Thanks for your review! Looks like Fly is my most popular one so far. I'll admit, I'm pretty fond of it myself. I'm really glad you liked it and I appreciate the feedback!

These poems are beautiful, romantic, and descriptive. I can truly imagine what you've written here, and that's the beauty of it. Your words create such a soft and gentle love scene and really leave me with a pleasant image in my mind. The only thing is, that you leave them all off seeming like there should be more, but you end them there. Perhaps that is in the essence? Either way, these were all beautifully written and I could not find any mistakes or inadequacies. :-)

Thank you so much! I really appreciate hearing that. I guess none of them really do have a concrete ending though, huh? That's partially a mistake, partially on purpose. I have a hard time ending poems; I feel like I could keep going forever. That's part of it. But I kind of like leaving the mind free to continue fantasizing afterwards, too. Thank you for your comment!

From poet to poet you are.... a poet? The poem's are very good I especially like Fly. It made me feel like my own feet were leaving the earth behind. I like how you say

" To throw yourself

From the safety of this earth

And fall into the sky,"

it's poetic duh and very unimaginable. It's also sort of romantic falling into the sky instead of falling out.

" Throw out your arms,

Catch the wind, "

I just like this line. No matter how much we throw our arms out the wind like water slips through our fingers but rushes with our wings and let us glide. Gosh that sounded good ;p

Thank you! I'm glad you like that. I wrote it when I was longing to just fly away to where I didn't need to care about anything. And yes, I consider myself a poet. Poet and novelist. I'm both! :) Thank you for your feedback!

I never travel without my diary. One should always have something sensational to read in the train.
