16+ Mature Content

In poetry

Warning: This work has been rated 16+ for mature content.

3am is for the writers, the artists, the poets, the musicians, the over thinkers, the silence seekers, the creative.

3am is for those who wish to escape reality, for those who wish to be at peace, for those who are considered weird, for the outcasts, for the freaks.

3am is for the insomniacs, for the confused, for the scared.

3am is for those who when you look through your window their light is still on.

3am is for those who wish to express themselves but can't, for those who think out of the box, for those who view the world differently, for the mentally ill.

3am is for the addicts, for the alcoholics, for the ones trying to stay sober.

3am is for those who find safety in themselves, for those who don't trust easily, for those who notice things.

3am is for the observers, for the curious, for the brave, for the readers.

3am is for those who wish to venture from the crowd.

3am is for the doomed.

Heyyyy, this is Coffee and maybe you should grab a nice beverage as you sit down to check this site and catch up on stuff! Now, onto the review!
Overall, wonderful poem!
I love the repetition, really makes and point and makes the reader really think about the impact you’ve made by the time you finish!
I love how it starts off really quite normal for describing stressed students cramming to how you might actually die at 3am. The gradual sense of terror washes over you as you realise that at such an unholy hour someone might be watching over you or you might be getting stalked.
I mean such things DO happen!
Personally, it’s just my view but I feel it would be much stronger and leave a better impact on the reader if you use more stronger vocabulary such as:
3am is for the ones in this world fated for a much more darker future
Or
3am is for those who wish to venture out into the world, discover the unknown in the depths of the world
Once again, just an opinion! I prefer longer yet more impactful sentences like this and honestly your poem seems wonderful just the way it is! It would be nice if you incorporated this in your own way though!
Thank you for reading and writing and have a good day/night!

Thank you!

Hey friend, wow I have loved seeing all of your poetry around the site! I sure love the interesting concepts, messages, and formats that you use. This poem reminded me of one of your others which I reviewed yesterday. I love the listing format that you use, it is sure a cool style of free verse.

Overall, I love how this poem dives even deeper into pain and relatable situations.

3am is for the writers, the artists, the poets, the musicians, the over thinkers, the silence seekers, the creative.

I love how you include so many people in this poem. It really speaks to me and so many others. I would recommend adding a space between 3 and am, to be 3 am instead of 3am on all of the lines here. This poem goes through a lot of different emotions- people who are in dooming situations or feel hopeless, to people who use this time for creativity. I love that spectrum you use to capture a shared experience.

It reminds me of this quote I heard where it's something like "8 billion people experienced a different version of today". I love the message you capture. Those early, solitary, lonely, quiet hours where we can really be alone.

love these lines:

3am is for those who find safety in themselves, for those who don't trust easily, for those who notice things.

and

3am is for those who wish to venture from the crowd.

3am is for the doomed.

These are so beautiful! I love how you describe venturing away from the crown and those who find safety in themselves.

This was so beautiful! Keep writing!!

Your friend,
Ellie

Thank you! i always love seeing your reviews! i did not know that there was supposed to be a space.

just came here to say it reminds me of a song by Amber Run called 5am. A little different meaning but still relatable~

L0ca1Tes1a~
I love this poem because it reminds me of a song, "late nights" by mxmtoon. I am also one of those people who stays up later. I think there's a lot of variety in this poem, different kinds of people who are "night owls." My favorite line is "3am is for the observers, for the curious, for the brave, for the readers." I think the end really ties it all up in a knot though.
AmberMelanie

thank you for this review also! when I wrote this poem I wanted it to have a ton of variety to which a lot of people could relate, and I'm sorry to ask but can you explain what you mean by the end ties it all up in a knot? I cant tell if that's supposed to be a good or bad thing.

I meant more of "tie it all together" or "to tie a bow on it" but I didn't really know how to say it...sorry about the confusion! I meant it as a good thing, I took the ending as universal compared to the variety in the rest of the poem. Like, no matter the reason, 3 AM is always for the doomed.

oh! okay thank you for the explanation.
