Your life doesn't have to be filled with melancholy.
It doesn't have to reek of despair and hopelessness.
It can be joyous, fun-filled and full of light.
Because
Darkness isn't eternal if there is a light bright enough
A brilliance shining forth from the depths of the abyss,
Rising like a crescendo, an ever higher note.
Light can come from friends, in the form of joy or hope.
It can also be from families that have understanding at home.
The light so bright no sadness can blight
Makes one so ever so effervescent
Glowing like a phoenix blazing across the midnight sky.
If ever your soul loses its fervor for happiness
Surround yourself with that which pleases you
Be it family, games, food or animals,
Books or have that special someone stay by your side as long as they can.
Never let yourself live a life of misery and pain,
For my friends out of that there is nothing to gain.
Let's not be naive however in believing that happiness comes instantly to all.
For happiness is the hardest thing to gain and the easiest to lose.
So even if you can't be happy, aspire to be.
Find the glimmer of light in your day.
I have found my anchor to the light, and it holds me firm.
Find your anchor to help assure that to sadness you'll never fall.
For
Your life doesn't have to be filled with melancholy.
It doesn't have to reek of despair nor empty promises loaded with hot air.
It can be promising, filled with hope, rising from despair like a phoenix from the ashes.
Because
Darkness fails to strive without a host to feed on.
It is a parasite, leeching off the light of your life,
But if you take a stand and refuse to let it drag you down into the pit of depression,
It will wail and bawl as it fades away to the light.
A brilliance shining forth from the depths of the abyss,
Rising like a crescendo, an ever higher note.

WOW, This poem is amazing. I totally agree with you withese lines:

"Darkness fails to strive without a host to feed on.
It is a parasite, leeching off the light of your life,
But if you take a stand and refuse to let it drag you down into the pit of depression,
It will wail and bawl as it fades away to the light."
It gave an intense feeling. It made feel the pain as well with these lines below, it was motivating though.
"Let's not be naive however in believing that happiness comes instantly to all.
For happiness is the hardest thing to gain and the easiest to lose.
So even if you can't be happy, aspire to be.

It does strike me, when I feel bitter, that if we have an intimate person who we can rely on, we get a feeling ,we have nothing to lose and not alone to face it as well.
