Aine.

In Poetry

I can remember

that at the funeral,

you held my hand

so tightly that I

thought you'd never let go.

.

The cracks began

from my fingertips

and you held me together.

For that I am always grateful.

But now you've left.

.

Your body remains.

Inhabited by this beast.

.

When we part every

morning and I say:

"I'll miss you",

I'm saying that I miss

You.

Aine.

This is a very touching poem and I'm very glad to have read it. You really do a wonderful job expressing the emotion, and even with so few words I understood what was happening perfectly. The whole piece just flowed across the page and I just.... really, really loved it. Great job :)

I'm not a poem person, so I can't say how you can improve, but I will tell you that I absolutely LOVED the line "The cracks began from my fingertips and you held me together." Not only is that extremely touching, but I can definitely relate to it and I'm sure many others can as well.

I hope this helped! Keep writing :D

Who is Aine? And who has died? By the effect the death has on you I assume he/she was someone you deeply treasure. What has happened to Aine where did his/her true self go?

Good poem by the way it's sounds mysterious yet romantic. But depicts clearly that something is missing.

Hey there HighTop,
My name is Graham and I'm going to do a quick review for you!

First off this was a very touching and well written in the sense that anyone can relate to the topic. I find the image of holding hands to be a very strong and emotional one, and I think you harnessed the power of that image and deployed it with much success. The idea of Aine being the glue that held you together, is very touching, and it was very clever how you had the "cracks" start in your fingertips, using the image that you just had symbolizing something that you loved in the stanza before it. IT really helps convey to the reader how large of an emotional toll Aine's death took on you. I especially liked the last stanza
"When we part every

morning and I say:

"I'll miss you",

I'm saying that I miss

You."

There is just something very powerful in the diction that just left me speechless. Thank you so much or sharing this piece it is absolutely breath taking. As always, write on my friend, write on!

Cheers!
Graham

That was a very nice poem, technically and content-wise. You've written something that people can relate to. Not only that, but it can be very difficult for writers to write about themselves and what's going in their own lives. I've kind of thought of writing as sometimes a way to escape certain feelings and emotion, but eventually we all have to come back to reality, right?

I'm going to talk about your poem though. It is really nice. I liked the flow of it. It's great.

I don't want to talk to you like I understand what you're feeling or that I can relate to you. But anyone who can write about something that's so personal deserves a lot of praise. You are strong for showing this to us and like I said before, I can't imagine what you're feeling. What I can say is that you just keep going like you have been, you're a strong person, and bless you for being so strong-willed.
Thanks for the poem.

Wow, that was emotional. A very beautiful poem about a sister's love. The words you chose fit perfectly, really good for the theme and attitude of the poem. You really miss Aine by the end. Amazing job, keep it up.

Woah.

This is a very deep poem that took my breath away. It describes my sister and I. Wow.

Everything about this is perfect. From the cracks in the fingertips to that last word, Aine. I hope you find Aine again, because to lose someone like that hurts more than anything.

I can totally relate to having someone become a totally different person after a major event/crisis. It seems like the message hidden 'in between the lines' of this poem is that your sister held you together at the cost of her own 'integrity', if you will. She kept you together but lost herself (maybe not totally, but she lost who she was). Very interesting poem.

Whoa. This is such an intriguing poem.
The feeling of missing the way someone used to be is a relatable one. Of someone who used to be familiar being inhabited by a beast.

I like the symbolism of her holding your hands is like holding your life together, keeping the cracks between your fingers together.

It makes me think of a line in Owl City's popular song Vanilla Twilight. “The spaces between my fingers are right where yours fit perfectly." I always loved it because it paints the picture that something is missing, the other person completes you.

The same longing is felt between you towards your sister.
It's so real, so powerful, it makes me miss her too.

Wow, this is powerful. I really like it; your rhythm has a life of its own, and you use it so you don't need any kind of formal structure. I especially like your second stanza, because it shows the bonding between you and your sister. The very best friend I have in this world is my sister, and so it's something I can really relate to. And then the end is so dark and sad, it makes me want to know the story behind it! It was a beautifully emotional poem. Thank you for sharing!
