A Mental Push And One Cut

A Mental Push And One Cut

Mental to physical pain

to unfeeling and numb to the touch,

I gave you a chance to hear me

but you threw me down like I was dirt under you,

this wasn't the only time I gave you this chance

but this wasn't the only time that you'd thrown me down,

one to uncountable

to the very last number I can say to nothing left,

like glass I kept breaking and being replaced

but after awhile your replacement shattered,

each one just as fragmented and irreplaceable as the last

but you still couldn't see all the cracks you'd made,

a push a shove

to being thrown and falling over the edge,

I'm not the only one who feels ignored

your touch is like a strangers,

it disgusts me and makes me want to run

I'll get scrapes and bruises trying,

cut to bleeding

this is what you've done.

firstly, as a person who struggles with self harm, the lines - 'mental to physical pain' and 'to unfeeling and numb to the touch' - touched a part of my heart i did not know existed. so first and foremost, i want to tell you that it gets better.

now, coming to the poem itself, i like that it is in freeverse. it kind of indicates the raw nature of human emotion, how feelings, especially those of hurt and pain, come so messily and harshly. this poem feels deep, and filled to the brim with strong emotions. the line - 'it disgusts me and makes me want to run' - is such a simple yet beautiful way to portray the agonizing feeling of wanting to leave.

i absolutely loved it.

Thank you so much :)

I love when a poem has such raw unfiltered feelings in it to the point where you can feel them radiating off the poem. This poem is really well written, and I understand what it is like to be in this place. "Mental to physical pain" this line is so relatable in many ways and to many people. "this wasn't the only time I gave you this chance

but this wasn't the only time that you'd thrown me down," it is always the worst feeling when you keep giving someone chances but you repeatedly give them chances to redeem themselves and they never do. You know you shouldn't but you cant bring yourself to do so. Writing is such a good way to healthily get your feelings out and I'm happy you are choosing to. Please keep writing.

Thank you so much for the review L0ca1Tes1a, I find it so healing to write like this it helps me more then a realise sometimes, I'm sorry that you've been in this pace before though, I hope your okay. <333

You really wrote your heart out on this one. I admire deep poetry such as this. The deprivation of a connection can lead two people to feel as strangers. Keep your head up. I know it's hard, and I can tell this writing comes from a dark place. The sun always shines again, so keep fighting and dont give up. Kudos on pouring your heart out, and I hope writing this at least helped.

Thank you, I really needed this, life is hard at the moment but I can tell you that writing this did help me pour a lot of it out. <3

Life can get really tough at times, but thankfully we have poetry as an outlet. Wishing you all the best.

This is a very deep poem and as someone who was in a place like this once, it feels very emotional.

I love deep poems like this because I don't need to write a review for them. They are fine just the way they are. I can't tell you not to write something like this because I have no say in something deep like this. The most beautiful poems I read are often the sadder ones.

You said you don't know what to rate this. I'd think it'd be at least a 12+, at most a 16+. It does have some heavy topics sprinkled in, but it isn't so obvious that it needs a very high maturity rating.

Also, on your line "like glass I kept braking and being replaced", I'm pretty sure braking is supposed to be breaking, but if not just ignore this part.

I think this was a nice poem and I don't think I can recommend any changes. This was a nice poem, and I really liked it.

Just keep up the good work!

Thank you so much for the kind words, I'm so happy that you like it, also thanks for pointing out the spelling error I always forget to add the e XD!!

Your welcome!
Glad I could help you remember that :)
