chapter 5
She's standing in front of me, close enough to touch. I took a step forward but then she seemed farther away from me. I took a few more step and she moved farther and farther away. I ran after her until she dissappeared and I was all alone in the void.
I crawled into a corner of my shower and felt the cold water drain my clothes slowly. The water blurred my vision and made it harder for me to breath. I wished I could just drown and never resurface again. I felt weak for missing a girl whom I only knew for a short time. I was running my frustrated fingers through my wet hair when I heard a knock on my door. I got up, tuned off the shower and walked towards my door. My bare wet feet left marks on the floor. My arms tightened around the knob and I opened.
An unfamiliar warmth washed over my body. It was like I had been left in the dark and saw light for the first time in years. As much as it hurt my eyes I loved it. I grabbed the door for support as my knees felt weak. I needed her hands to hold me up. It was her, right in front of my eyes, close enough to touch but I feared to take a step towards her as she might dissappeare, just like in my dream.
"Hey, What happened? Did your shower break?" Her voice made my numb heart beat again. It's like the whole world was drowned in silence until she came into my life. I came back to reality when I saw her waving her hand in front of my face.
"Hello..." She smiled.
"Where were you?" I asked, curious to know.
"Home, India, for my cousin's wedding." she paused to smile at me. There was a pile of bags behind her." Any way, I lost my apartment keys and I called Lockwood and he's currently not here and will not be here for an hour and I thought I'll wait in your apartment rather than wait outside my door, so..." She stared at me with a pleading face.
"Sure, come in" I said. She grabbed her bags and walked into my apartment as I held the doors open for her. For the first time I wished I kept my apartment clean. I quickly grabbed the worn out jeans I had left on my couch before she saw it.
"Why don't you take a seat?" I pointed towards the couch."I'm gonna go and change. I'll be right back." I went into my bedroom and closed the door behind me.
For the first time in for like ever I wished I had better taste in clothes. I picked a dark blue shirt and a pair of light blue jeans. When I went back to the living room she was not on the couch.
"You have the worst collection of music." She was listening to my i pod and going through my drawers.
I realized it was the best time to know her better. "So..what are you doing here from India?" I asked.
"Oh I got a scholarship at the university here." She sat at the other end of the couch from me.
"You are a college student?" I didn't know she was that young, she didn't seem nineteen to me.
"Actually I had already finished two years in college in India when I got the scholarship here but I decided to start as a freshmen here." Her long hair was tied up in a ponytail and it jiggled every time she moved. She looked more Indian the last time I saw her. Now she was wearing a dark blue jeans along with a white t-shirt and a leather jacket over the top.
"What do you do here when you are free?" She looked around the room.
"Nothing much, I just work out." I said. I realized it was the stupidest thing to say only after I said it.
"Other than that." She was trying to hide a laugh."Do you draw, paint, sing, write anything like that?"
I shook my head and said "No, do you?"
"I like to paint." She said as she opened her bag and pulled out a sketch pad and handed it to me."Just take a look"
Each of her painting had a uniqueness yet there was soo much of 'her' in it. Most of them were abstract but meaningful. There was a painting of a girl staring at the stars, she was pointing at them. It was like it was a photo, like she was showing the stars to the person who took the photo.
"What do you mean by this one?" I asked her showing her the painting.
A slow smile spread across her face, she ran her finger through the painting. "My favorite one." She whispered "She's showing the man she loves the stars they'll be once they die and leave this world."
"Is that girl you?" Something told me I shouldn't have asked that question but still I did.
"Maybe, one day.."she said in a slow voice.
"Who is the man she loves?" Again I couldn't control what came out of my mouth.
Whatever I asked didn't seem to bother her. "I don't know, It's yet to be known. It's like a fairy tale that still hasn't met it's happy ending or sometimes it never will." she looked straight into my eyes and if you looked closer you could see a hidden pain behind them. We stared into each other's eye and it felt like I could keep doing it and never get tired, never.
Her phone broke the silence.
"It's Lockwood. He's here." She got up and grabbed her bags and when she reached the door she turned to look at me and said "Have you found your happy ending?"
All I could say was "Maybe" But it seemed like the best answer.

Hey Allison!
Well let me jus tell u how damn happy I'm with this chapters of yours. It shows improvement, an that my friend means a lot. I could see you have worked on your writing style and imagination. N really I'm happy that I was there to witness all the improvement.
I liked this chapter, and the ending... Man that really struck home.
The only thing i,'all like to point out is that, that one place where you say 'nodded my head' it should be 'shook my head' cau u no in agreement n our dearest here is denying his loved one. So yeah change that , but other than that this was an amazing chap.
Goodluck n keep working hard (it shows)
Until the next time
~DD
actually I have to thank u. U keep correcting my mistakes and it helped me get 1st prize for poem writing at my school but unfortunately I didn't get enough time to give a good climax for my story writing.
Ur most welcome... N congratulations
Hello I'm Sandman.
Okay, let's start. This chapter is pretty good. It is well written and displays a clear style. There are a few things that I did notice while reading. Sometimes you forget to put a space in between a quotation mark and a period. Like in these:
"It's Lockwood. He's here."She
said"Have you found your happy ending"
"She's showing the man she love the stars they'll be once they die and leave this world."
said"No, do you?"
Now she was wearing a dark blue jeans along
Those should be:
"It's Lockwood. He's here." She
said. "Have you found your happy ending?"
"She's showing the man she loves the stars they'll be once they die and leave this world."
said. "No, do you?"
Now she was wearing dark blue jeans along
There are a lot of little errors like that. It will take you a lot of time to go back and fix but, It'll be worth it trust me. You have skill it's just that you need to do a better job of noticing your errors and, I know how hard that can be. Trust me. It doesn't make it any easier but it does make your works that much better.
thanku soo much for reviewing.
