Trapped inside an empty vessel,
My breath is nothing but the breeze;
That makes the dead leaves rustle.
I want to be freed-
From this curse called life,
I can find peace from the blade of a knife.
What is left of me except blood and bones?
People say suicide is selfish;
And it is tough to die alone.
Well, I have no one to hold onto-
No one to say things will be fine,
No one to love me, no one called mine.
Like a bird deprived of wings
Like a nightingale who cannot sing,
Like a silent, unheard prayer
Life is so not fair.
I am nothing but a shadow,
Creeping into the bosom of darkness;
Struggling to fend off life’s blows,
But I cannot survive anymore.
Giving up as it is not worth the fight,
Giving up as I do not hope to find the light.
Life is nothing more than fate’s toy.
Why do I have to fight,
When drowning in misery gives me joy?
Maybe this is my destiny-
Holding death’s hand as if he is my soul mate,
There is no hope for me, it is too late.
Death will set me free
Death will let me be,
Death will let me see
Death will save me from this misery.

This poem really spoke to me. The way you expressed the feelings of depression and loneliness were truly picturistic. The thoughts in the poem are really deep and I love the rhetorical statements. This poem really makes one think. It's true that people dont get why anybody woud want to just give up. But they have yet to see and experience that pain and the way it grows like an unending void. The way you described the condition of the person in the poem by comparing with birds is really brilliant.
"Giving up as it is not worth the fight,
Giving up as I do not hope to find the light."
These lines are the crux of the poem and they really signify as to why one would one want to suicide. It really seems that sometimes the endless fight is killing us from the inside and making us question if it really is worth it.
I wouldnt give any suggestions for the poem 'cause it really seems flawless to me. Good job!
I really like this poem.It spoke to me in ways that I can't explain. I've written a poem or two on suicide and depression but i must say that this poem is better.It really captures what a person with depression contemplating suicide would think.I also love the way it's written.It's absolutely beautiful.This poem was amazing.Good job! c:
Hay. I really like this poem. It is very clever and intellegent and i probably wouldn't be able to write something this good. Really loved it.
Favourite thing about this work? It's cliché, but it works.

'Death will set me free.' This sort of line has been used many times but the way you convey the language in this piece definitely makes it seem sincere. So I like that.
The best line in my opinion: 'Life is nothing more than fate's toy.' It's deep, thought provoking and original.
Overall, a really interesting piece. Congrats.
Hey! Am finally here to review this amazing piece you have written. First of all lemme congratulate you on writing such a wonderful piece. Now lemme correct your mistakes
The line
"I want to be freed-"
Though freed is a word but it seems odd here so why not make it free?
"From this curse called life,
I can find peace from the blade of a knife."
I can understand the darkness around this poem. Your angry with life and you want to be happy by cutting yourself with a blade. That's your thinking but frankly speaking I don't like suicide. Live naturally till where your life is supposed to be. Dont Suicide that's what I suggest. You will later come to know.
I love the element of rhyme I see in this poem.
It is a terribly sad poem, but I must agree, sometimes death just seems easier than life.
I have a question. What drove you to write this poem?
I like the alliteration in the last stanza.
I hope you feel better now.
I believe if you read the little segment underneath the title, just before you click to read it, it says this was written just before an attempted suicide.
I know.
i liked the poem the way you wrote it.. it is really touching and i know i should not interfere in your life but i just wanted to tell suicide is never an option .. yea difficulties are there but its not just you alone.. every one living has difficulties and who knows some one might be having greater pain then yours but they might still be fighting .. you know what death will come when it wants to you don't have to bring death.. and you know what difficulties is a test by god .. and you have to show god that you ain't week you can fight .. and take it as a challenge and fight.. show life , show god , show everyone that you are not someone who loses so fast.. just remember NEVER EVER GIVE UP
I liked how the poem captured all the emotion. "Depression hurts" seems like such a trite expression, but it is true. When you don't feel valuable or loved, it does feel like you're "nothing but a shadow". I liked all the metaphors and symbolism you used, especially the lines "People say suicide is selfish;
And it is tough to die alone.
Well, I have no one to hold onto-
No one to say things will be fine,
No one to love me, no one called mine."
You don't have anyone to hold onto if no one's there supporting you. Very nice poem.
