So Close

In A Therapy of Sorts...

We stand a little closer every day,
so close now that I can see every tiny
crevice and line formed when you slowly smile
at me.

But still I can feel every millimeter
of space that separates your body from mine,
a mocking and un-crossable expanse,
parallel lines.

Either side of a perilous river,
our hands can stretch, but can never quite reach.
Temptation so near, yet I can’t bring myself
to leap.

We stand a little closer every day,
so close now that if I stood on my toes
and you met me half way, our lips would touch,
gap would close.

Instead, we stand so perfectly still,
and I stay on the soles of my feet,
like two trapped statues, only our eyes
can meet.

You did a really good job with this! I can feel the narraters desire to close the gap vary well.
I don't really have much else to say. Keep up the good work Anna91423. :)

This piece is really interesting - the thought that they are so close, yet so far!
The fourth and fifth paragraph in the poem conveys the feeling very well, that there is this need to come closer together, yet the need is left, not taken care of.
The title encapsulates the entire mood of the poem extremely well, and gives the main idea really well! I know, this is a short review, but I really love the poem! Keep up the good work!

Thank you! :)

First off I would like to say that this was a great piece and I found what appears to be a spelling error. You typed "But still I can feel every millimetre" and i think you where looking for millimeter. Other than that it was a good piece. I hope this helps a little.

Actually, it either goes as 'millimetre' or 'millimeter'. Your 'millimeter' is the American spelling.

It suddenly struck me that that tiny pea, pretty and blue, was the Earth. I put up my thumb and shut one eye, and my thumb blotted out the planet Earth. I didn't feel like a giant. I felt very, very small.
