No Smoke Without Fire

In Flashes of Inspiration :)

Frozen where I sleep,
through every crack
leaving elusive trail,
smoke slowly creeps,
and coarses through me with every inhale.

I begin to choke.
Throat begins to close.
The heat invades
through walls, like a ghost,
blistering delicate skin with scars that don't fade.

Sheltered by a pillow
protecting my ears,
I still hear the screams
escaping through windows,
interrupting the sweet nothings of my dreams.

I jolt upright, awake.
Breathing hard, shaking, scared,
although I know I'm safe.
I still remember.
A year has passed, but in my head I'm still there.

They say it was you.
The man I love,
accused.
They say you're a liar,

no smoke without fire.

The imagery here was interesting. At first I was taking the poem literally, but the end made me see it as also a metaphor. It makes me think that "leaving elusive trail, smoke slowly creeps" could mean something like little problems that may seem small at first, but could be a result of underlying problems. Maybe I'm reading too much into it lol, but either way it was a good poem that got me thinking. :)

I really liked this poem. The title fits it perfectly. Your layout, emotion and descriptiveness were used effectively. (Not too much or too little, flowed nice, etc.) Your conventions were good. In fact, it was good overall, no flaws.
My favorite part:

They say it was you.
The man I love,
accused.
They say you're a liar,

no smoke without fire.

I liked all of it, but the ending was particularly memorable.

Great job, and keep it up!

Dear anna91423,
This poem has real emotional appeal and is very discriptive, which are two really god things for poems to have. I loved it!!! One thing you can improve is to work on the little rhyme sceme you have , going on, because it is almost right but there are a few places where I feel like you should have a specific place for your rhymes. I also feel like there is something missing in your ending, maybe you could add something about either who 'they' are or if you agree with them. Oh! One more thing, it would soud better if you you put "leaving an elusive trail" or "leaving elusive trails" as opposed to "leaving elusive trail." Other than those few things the poem was great and a bit haunting, but that is good when it comes to poems! :P

Keep up the good writing,
Sincerely,
AnAmericanTeenager

Sorry I meant good things!
