Really good piece of work; liked how you wrote about the same old topic (outer topic) with a really good twist. I liked the imagery and your poem has really good flow, but I think maybe that you should try to make it more simple. And maybe that's just me but I think a poem is allowed to shine more when the poem itself is complex and the writing simple.
If that didn't make sense- it's okay, I didn't totally get it either.
Anyway, keep writing.
In a figurative sense, this poem seems like a jab at outward beauty and fancies. It ridicules the shiny outside whose inside are in the words of Jesus in the Matthew 23:27(NKJV) 'like whitewashed tombs which look beautiful on the outside but within are full of dead men's bones and everything unclean'. It is like you are trying to say' 'it is what is inside the package that counts'.
Good description and modestly vague in the sense that even if I can't really grasp some lines, the central theme is still not lost on me.
It's almost as if I can hear your voice. THe sarcastic, scornful tone brings it to life. I feel
the passion in your poem. I was enthralled by your description of the paint, the half-cupped tears, the jagged wooden planks. My favorite is the last stanza =) Your use of ambiguity is so developed that I lost interest in the third stanza,so perhaps you could hint a bit more on what exactly you mean by this woman. I initially thought it was about an impression of a woman that was entirely wrong, maybe intensified. What do you mean by fixer-upper? But I think it's beautiful.
I find it so difficult to give feedback on poetry because I believe that all that should matter to a poet is what he or she thinks, however the start of new lines in the poem seems to be too random. I don't feel like they were meant to be put there. Besides that, you imagery and words are very beautiful and clear. I would search for more discriptive words to write with.
