The World is Our Stage

Come with me, my darling.

Come away with me, and we will dance in the moonlight.

The world is a stage for us to shine,

We will dance upon it until the wood is cracked and dry.

We won’t wait for applause,

We won’t expect appreciation,

We won’t anticipate an encore.

Your eyes are the spotlights on my soul,

Your love surrounds me.

.

Maybe I'm crazy,

Or maybe it's you

But my dreams are all that feel true.

.

Come with me, my dear.

Come away to the land of clouds blanketing the ground,

And flowers spinning in the sky.

Where we can be ourselves

Love our talents, our beating hearts.

No one overshadows us now.

You can laugh like the child you are

Take off the armor from past pain,

No one can hurt you now.

I promise, things are just as they were meant to be.

.

The world was our cage

But now we are free

We can fly to a sky that’s oh so lovely.

.

Come with me, my beautiful.

Come away to the land of dimples and sugar cakes.

We will jump in cool pure water

And watch the night sky roll in

Through the sunbursts of the lights dying rays.

We will adore the darkness as much as day

Because it’s not dark, not really.

Your eyes light the sky like the stars they are

And my love shines brighter still.

My darling. It is too good to be true.

.

The world tried too hard to hold us within.

And now they'll all see,

We just can't fit in.

.

Come away with me, my lovely.

Come away to a land where dreams burst reality

Like the bubbles in soda pop.

I can hold you tight, rock you,

And no one will tell us to wake up.

We won’t have to “get over it.”

We won’t have to “move on.”

We can just sit, stare, breathe

In each other’s arms.

..

The world is our stage.

But no one has to see.

We can be anyone we want to be.

.

I know it sounds too good to be true,

But my sweet child,

It is.

*Dedicated to a family friend, who lost his daughter, eleven years old. It may seem like a song for a lover, but nothing is more powerful than the love of a parent, nor a greater loss than that of a child. God bless you, little Kyli.*

Awww. Poor dear. =\ I'll keep the family in my prayers.

This song is amazing, though. It's passionate, it's meaningful, it's heartfelt. It can be used to portray a lover's heart, a family bond... I really teared up while reading it, especially at the end with the dedication. You are really great with putting a lot of emotion in your work. The writing was fantastic. It flowed so well.

Thank you for sharing this. It was beautiful.

I give her my deepest sympathies, but as true sorrow is as rare as true love. There are no words I can say to compensate for the lost of a child at such a young age. I don't nitpick on dedication poems, because they are usually very intimate to the author. Just to let you know, this was a wonderful dedication to Kyli.

And to Kyli, rest in peace wherever you are. God bless you.

Well, I definitely like it a lot better after reading the dedication. It comes across as so much more meaningful and thoughtful, though I'm so sorry for everyone's loss.

Saying that, I liked it the first time. Then, I read the dedication, grieved a little, and reread it. The second time, I loved it. Things that before came off as a cheesy type of couple love the first go round now held the mourning desperation of a parent after so great a loss. It went from something that made me feel happy and light, to a haunting but no less beautiful poem about love and loss.

Your ending was flawless. It was definitely my very favorite part. I also liked this
"I can hold you tight, rock you,

And no one will tell us to wake up. "

Really, it was all just so beautiful. Thank you so much for sharing.

Thank you. I can't even imagine what it must feel like to lose your only child at such a young age. It makes me happy to think about Kyli having fun up there among the clouds.
Thanks again.

In the past I would definitely say who you would find inside. Not so much today. Place is bonkers …. As is everywhere
