Affirmative Action

What I know about college is--

FUN. FUN. FUN.

What I know about college is--

Something NEW and OLD at the same time...

Something PROGRESSIVE and BACKWARDS

That hides its face when the cards show SPADES

For killing black spirits with chants...

Something PROGRESSIVE and BACKWARDS

That smiles from ear to ear when the cards show

BLACK DIAMONDS

In the rough--

“Give us more!” they say. “Statistics and PR need YOU!”

BLOOD DIAMOND on my DVD player...

V for the VENDETTA on my soul

and

the

war

waged by

ADMISSIONS OFFICERS!

What I know about college is--

STEAM not STEM--

The ART in the admissions process is painting

With all the COLORS of the wind, including BROWN…

Not enough paint to go around to make people wonder

If hard work loses out to a BLACK FACE CARD…?

Don’t flush away Nubian ROYALTY--

Labor on!

College is a

PAINTING.

I'm very open to your work, and it's just so incredible. I love your voice and the reasoning your voice has. I love the reasoning. I love the logic. It's just so profound. I can't get enough.

Wow thanks! That's so nice of you :D

Hey GreenLight24,

Your poem has a simple and subtle theme of getting into college and trying to explain what college means to you. It was not hard hit on the brain, but rather an easy-going sweet poem which was nice to read. Even though it was simple, the way you brought it out in the form of words is fabulous. But I would like to suggest that you could do better with the formatting and paraphrasing. Then it would be bang on :D

Short review this time for Kat <3

Um okay to I really liked this stylistically with the bold and not bold words and I will to to understand what you are saying but I'm not entirely sure I do and I am sorry but I feel like you need feedback from all your readers not just the ones who totally get it .

The cards and black were used often ... I'm guessing these symnolize luck/ability and ethnicity ? Like this person is having troubles because of their ethnicity and collages are biased and choosing and they want talented out of the box thinkers ? I'm really not sure if this is right so sorry >.< . I felt like the seventh line from the bottom was a pochohontas reference .... I didn't get a lot of the acronyms or references but I liked the oxymoron with the progress backwards but I think using it twice is less effective than using it once really well or maybe you should use it in the beginning middle and end for an even greater effect of depiction . I also liked how you compared collage to a painting .

Sorry I couldn't offer more
~Kat
