Pointlessness

In Poetry

This poem is pointless.

It really doesn't make sense.

But for some strange reason,

you are still reading this.

That's what's interesting;

you still carry on.

Don't you have anything better to do?

Obviously not.

But since you are here.

I will say one thing.

You are pretty sensational.

You have stuck with this thing.

Like I said,

This poem is pointless.

But thanks for reading.

I hope this mess was enjoyable.

One thing that I must say before you go.

You just wasted one minute of your life,

And you owe that to me.

One last time,

This poem is pointless,

But you read it anyway.

Thanks!

Now be on your way.

Hey, yo, Bball41! Strange here on this wonderful review day and I have a review for you!

Pardon my attitude towards poetry like this, but I find pointless poetry ridiculous and unfunny. The poems are trying to make a comment on how they're original, witty, and funny, but they aren't. Oh, yeah, I forgot. They aren't original. It's been used so many times it just isn't there for me. Now, I have nothing against you, it's just I don't find this poem special.

Retreaded themes throughout poetry gets on my nerves considering it is usually the same poem over and over. That's what this is a case of. You go over about how the reader is wasting their time reading this, they keep on reading this, and how much of this was a waste. That happens so much it loses its sense of humor.

This is also a very ironic poem, considering there was a point to this. The point was to be "pointless". That theme is just jumbled up to the point where it's not even self aware. It does sound like it is self aware, but it's not. It's a confusing thing to talk about, but it just fails itself in the "Humor" department.

A recommendation on humor poetry, if you do try to comment on a thing like this, add a soft comedic touch. That will help a lot, I must say. This fell flat for me, and this is not because I'm just a silly nihilist, it just wasn't the best.

Keep writing, and stay groovy!

Wow! This is a hilarious poem!

I'd like to say that this is well written and very enjoyable.

About corrections: I'm not sure that that semi-colon is the right type of punctuation in that spot in your poem. I really haven't seen semi-colons very much in poetry. In my opinion, maybe you should put a colon or something like that instead.

Good luck!

That was great, I am so amused I can't top smiling! I absolutely loved this poem, it really just made my afternoon better....
I liked how you pointed out the obvious that I was still reading it, do I have anything better to do, etc. it made it really funny, so yes, this was a very enjoyable poem to read.

Hello Tuesday here for a review. I like to begin that not all poems are pointless and all poems sometimes don't make sense. That is why people love to read them, using their imaginative states which is good for most people. Also I enjoyed how there is a little theme in this poem and a beat throughout it too. Plus the repetitive of the beginning in each stanza, sets off the mood of what you are trying to convey.

Nitpick(s):

As I can agree with speakerskat, there is bland vocabulary in this poem. If you bring in new spices (words) into this poem, it could bring out the BAM! in this poem. Also if you add the spicy words to the poem, it will make the reader want to read on from what you have written.

I somehow got lost in between reading this. There are some stanzas that are messy and I am lost at what you are trying to prove in this poem. I understand it is sarcastic but what the theme or overall message you are trying to convey into this poem when the reader reads it?

However, I did enjoy the fact that most people could relate to this poem. Since in some point or another, we will write something pointless wasting the thought that has trailed in our minds then go back later in life, changing anything that would need to be changed and I applaud you for that. Also the repeating of the first line, makes it give a tone of what you are writing and the mood that is within this poem could be set anywhere the reader can read.

Happy Writings,
Tuesday

I feel like I just wasted one minute of my life only because this pointless poems told me so . Pshhhh I waste time all the time been there done that .

Kat here to review . Okay so I think this was both funny and a little ...meh . Meaning I felt like it was humorous but was like laughing and I think that was the point . Leave the reader thinking , why did I just read that .... Which is cool .

Cool , that's some very bland vocabulary . This poem would be a lot more fun with some spicy words than the very basic things you have in here . Also the flow was really messed up by the 7th and 8th lines from the end being so long.

I appreciate the sarcastic tone you keep throughout the piece and the sort of .... Dry humor ? I'm not very funny sorry . So just really try to expand on literary device and vocabulary and watch out for flow/syllables and you're all set .

Nice job
~Kat

No poem is truly pointless :p
