First my favorite shirt,
followed by matching shorts.
(Black, naturally)
Can't forget my shoes,
and won't forget my socks.
(Ripped and mix-matched, it drives the 'rents insane)
Hygiene is important, so
I bring my shower stuff.
(God forbid if I forgot that)
Toothbrush, toothpaste.
(Minty kind, I hate fruit flavored)
Razor, don't forget the blades.
(Gillette, of course)
Shampoo, conditioner.
(Just because I'm a guy doesn't mean I don't use it)
They would kill me
if I forgot deodorant.
(If the stench didn't kill me first)
Everything barely fits
in my small suitcase.
(I have to sit on it in order to close it)
And even then,
it's a struggle.
(Glad I'm bringing a back-pack for the extra's)
Been waiting for this trip for ages.
(The drive seems to take twice as long)
But after the journey,
I arrive at camp,
Only to find,
all that I packed,
breaks all the goddamned dress codes.
Crap.

My name is Remer Strangelove and I am going to be the Ash Williams of reviews
My reviews are my BOOM STICK
First of all
Groovy.
I did have quite a laugh at the end of this. My favorite genre of all in poetry is humor. This delivers well. Isn't the world's strongest poem at the beginning. I was like "Ok, nothing really funny about this" until the end. The end was like a punch to the face. That's what a good humor poem needs, as all of them has it. Back In Time, a recent humor poem by Blackwood has it and it is one of the better humor poems on here. Overall, you did really good on this. It stretched out my face until my lips hit my ears to make a smile. Except this smile is natural. I give a round of applause to this poem
One word to describe this poem
Groovy.

fun and enlightening! As I read it I could hear myself doing the same when I pack! Very real and the flow and texture is very pleasant.
so what happens then?
how does he get out of his situation of not being able to wear any of his clothes?? Haha
Hi there! barefootrunner here with a quick review
Belated welcome to YWS!
My first thought was, what a huge column of text! It would look smaller and more reader-friendly if you broke it up into stanzas, and merged every second line into the other.
My second thought was punctuation. You had a great load of commas and periods, but sometimes the comma wasn't really necessary, like at
You can leave that one out, and replace some of the punctuation with more flavorsome marks, such as semi-colons, colons, dashes and the like.
My next thought was the lack of poeticism. You had a great list going, but not much in the line of making it into a poem. This list stays a list broken into choppy lines, no matter how you cut it. You can make it more interesting by using some internal or half-rhymes, like alliteration and assonance, and being more specific, concrete, about the stuff you put in. Don't say toiletries. Say Aquafresh, toothbrush (bristles poking out), razor blades,
a can of spray (use everyday), my Rayban super-shades.
It adds a lot more character when you put in specific items. (The above might go well with a guy.)
Nice end! "Goddamned" is usually spelt as a single word, though.
Keep writing
barefoot
Thanks for the suggestions, I'll keep that in mind when I do the final edit.
As for the stanzas, I tried to break them up. The formatting here hates me.
LOL I know what it's like.
Indeed.
Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha! This is funny. I wonder what happens next. (Hint HINT)
Well, I wasn't planning on a sequel, but we'll see where the muses move me.
This was a pretty good list poem! List poems aren't my favorite since they don't require much effort in the content, but rely heavily on punctuation. You did a good job in making it flow from line to line with the commas. Each sentence itself was a little choppy though. If you aren't rhyming then you have to rely on punctuation for rhythm, so be careful about that. I would recommend more detail on the imagery. I don't think the swearing at the end suited the poem; I was picturing the narrator as a kid.
Hey, thanks for the review. My writing style tends to be on the choppy side, it's just the way it comes out in the end, and I tend to like it.
Really? You thought it was a kid? The inspiration for this came from the fact that my friend and I go to a lot of camps together, and in the prep meetings where they go over the rules and the dress code we always joke about having to go home and repack everything. I was basing it off my friend, and I knew that was something that he would say.
