Silent Scream

Tic tic tic, goes the clock on the wall

Drilling its song through her head like a siren’s forsaken call

As a little girl sat all alone with her dark drawings and poems

That seemed to keep at bay the looming feelings of gloom

As the sun streamed outside over children holding their parent’s hands

But she simply turned away and buried herself deeper in her room.

Tic tic tic, the lunch room’s clock fills the silence;

The silence in her heart, but drowns below the noises all around

Of children laughing, talking, shouting in colourful sounds

As the little girl’s eyes gaze down to the floor.

Tic tic tic, she can hear the hours drag by in her bathroom,

As she sits against the door, trying to block out the noise

The screams, the shouts, the words her parents threw at each other

In their own little bubble of darkness and hate

Tic tic tic, goes the time bomb in her head

She can hear their judging eyes, she can see their poisonous words

As they crawl against her skin and seep into her flesh

Tic tic tic, goes the time bomb in her heart

Never has she felt this much alone.

Tic tic tic.. the thoughts droning in her head have never been so loud

And then suddenly- they abruptly stopped.

She looked up and saw a boy holding out his hand,

He was clumsy, he was shy and blushed away from her gaze,

And yet, she smiled and took his hand,

And they smiled together, sun and moon fusioning into each other

And for the first time in years, her heart smiled with her mouth.

And they fell in love with each other,

And every icy word melted into the molten lava that was their hearts

Two souls intertwined in celestial beauty, two souls fallen in love.

Tic tic tic, but time goes on

And it is known everything that falls gets broken

Tic tic tic, how much time has it been ?

It feels like forever that she’s been waiting for him

Tic tic tic, an hour has passed, two, six

Her thoughts were crumbling in a heart that just can’t be fixed

Tic- he won’t be coming home tonight

Tic- he’s probably out in a bar, surrounded and yet all alone

Tic- what have I done..

Tic tic tic, why won’t the silence return ?

She wonders as she pries at her sewn wounds

Tic tic tic, when will all her thoughts simply shut up for once

She screams at the reflection taunting her in the mirror

And finally, her tic blood tic drips tic on the floor

Holding a distorted image of herself in a shard of glass,

Blood snaking across her arm, tears filling up her heart,

Tic tic tic, the sun slides slowly across the grass

Tic tic tic, their venomous words are etched into her heart

Tic tic tic, like constellations of dying stars

Tic tic tic, it felt good to let her tears fall inside of her

Tic tic tic, as they simply melted in with the rain:

Tic tic tic, the rain of her torn apart emotions

Tic tic tic, the rain of her broken heart

Tic. Tic. Tic, a million words could not bring him back,

She knows because she tried

Tic. Tic. Tic, neither would tears bring her back

He knows because he’ll cry

When he’ll find her lying in a puddle of blood.

Tic

This is really interesting. I appreciate your expression of emotions. You are really great writer as you portrayed a picture through words. It is good to see the picture in the mirror.

WOW! I am so interested in this poem! I'm literally at a loss for words, and I don't know what else to say besides I am in love with your writing! The wording is so beautiful and I was entranced from the very first syllable to the very last letter! I wish I knew how better to express my amazement in words, but for now, I'll just say that you are unbelievably talented and you've really got skill!

Wow thanks a lot :D

Hello stygianmoon17! Incoming review.

This poem/story was incredible. The story you told through short lines of the girl's life really got me engaged in the overarching time that passed. I think you showed the girl's insecurities very well and you put such abstract feelings into words and I have to commend you on that. This line, "And for the first time in years, her heart smiled with her mouth," is my favourite. I can actually feel how the girl is feeling. She smiled although her heart was never in it but that was the first time her heart smiled with her in years.

Here are a few critiques I have. "My thoughts are crumbling into a heart that can’t be fixed," this line seems out of place. I think it comes from the drastic change in perspective. For the entirety of the story it takes place of 3rd person but this is a sudden change to 1st person that is not seen anywhere else. If you meant for this, I think you could make it stand out as the girl's inner thoughts you could italics it or put it in bold to make it more clear. As we neared the end I personally think the tics were slightly overused. The tics could work better with short and simple phrases to go along with them as to not tire out the reader. I understand the implementation of the tics but when I was reading I skipped over them because I knew what was coming and wanted to know new information. One last thing I think this could benefit from is breaking it up into smaller chunks. I've learned from my own writing that breaking up stories structured like this after you wrote them will help you draw a clear line of differences in time and character development. Its' also a bit easier to read as well.

Always feel free to take what you want to improve and ignore what you don't. But I adored this piece. I just feel the need to commend you once again at the story telling you gave and the emotions you presented. You should defiantly keep writing. Anyway byeeeeeeeeeee <3

Hi there thanks a lot for the review <333

Ohhh love this,
I like how we see her grow along the way, she goes from a little child alone in her room, to a child at school, to a teenager in high school, to finally an adult.. I think..?

I'm not sure if it's part of the style, but nearing the end the writing was kinda nonsensical and all over the place- it could show how she was feeling that way, a mess.

It's part of the style :D glad you caught on with what I was trying to show ^^
