“Seriously, Beth. Now isn’t the time for jokes.” I say.
Of course she can’t be serious. He’s not out there. None of them are. This thing that is happening to us? It will pass eventually.

Hm this feels more like a snippet than an actual story.
I don't have much to say about the characters other than that I can relate to the denial and the hope of Luke.
Also, quick reminder of dialogue formatting: if the character "says" something, you need a comma in the speech
Wonder what it means that they are so scared they are alive...
