In The monster within…

*I know that I already did a POV with Nicole in the last chapter, but I’ll do another POV of Nicole here! I’ll do Luke in the next chapter! This is a fanfic of the R.L. Stine movie “Monsterville: Cabinet of Souls” and it takes place a year after the events in the movie happen. The two main characters in this fanfic are the two side characters of the movie. This is under my folder titled “The monster within…”. Gacha Club character designs are under my forum titled “My character designs<33[2]”. Enjoy!*

NICOLE

“So sometimes, the curse stays, like a virus, and latches itself onto the weakest souls. Even when Kellen was a monster, he still had some humanity. So did Andrea. She was able to plead her desire to be saved. But you two? You guys were weak. You fell easily under Dr. Hysteria’s control.” Beth says, opening up the book.

Jeez, she doesn’t need to rub it in. I know that this is the truth, but still. She doesn’t need to say it like that.

“But that doesn’t explain what you said about Dr. Hysteria and the others coming back.” I say instead. I don’t want to get into an argument with her. Really, I don’t.

“There’s a few more pages that explains just that.” She says, flipping through more pages.

Beth is just so smart, isn’t she?

“They’re very powerful demons. Holy Water can’t defeat them. They can only be defeated by other monsters that match their power.”

“But where will we find them?” Kellen asks.

Wow. They really think that we can stop them? Dr. Hysteria is very strong. He had a chokehold on me. If it weren’t for Beth, me and Luke would have been lost forever. So would Kellen and Andrea, if she failed that badly.

But now she’s saying that we need monsters that have more strength than him and his goons?

How would we even?

“I’m sure we’ll find a way.” Beth says.

I turn over to Luke, to see what he thinks about all of this. He’s covering his mouth. What? Is he self-conscious about his breath? He never cared about how it smelled before.

“You’re awfully quiet.” I say. I just can’t help but say it. Why is he so quiet?

“I…I agree with Beth!” Luke says a little too brightly. His voice is muffled under his hand.

“We’ll meet up tomorrow.” Beth says.

“We’ll get through this.” She says.

Then, she wraps an arm around Kellen’s waist and the two walk out.

See, that’s the thing. She’s so certain that we’ll be able to fix this. That everything will be alright.

I just don’t know.

I like that we’re dealing with characters that used to be under mind control and are actually considered “weak”. I’m so used to iron-willed, determined characters that I’m curious to see where this goes. I also like that the MC is aware of her flaws.

I’m suspicious of Luke being so quiet. Is he mind-controlled? Now I’m paranoid abt everything!

Everything has to be taken on trust; truth is only that which is taken to be true. It's the currency of living. There may be nothing behind it, but it doesn't make any difference so long as it is honoured. One acts on assumptions. What do you assume?
