The monster within | Chapter Fourteen | Luke

*This fanfic chapter is underneath my folder titled “The monster within…”. This is a fanfic of the R.L. Stine movie “Monsterville: Cabinet of Souls”. It takes place a year after the events in the movie. The two main characters of this story are the two side characters of the movie. Their names are Luke and Nicole. This story alternates between their POVS. Gacha Club character designs are under my forum titled “My character designs<33[2]”. Enjoy!*

LUKE

I guess I should tell Nicole, but…it feels like a bad time. She’s obviously upset, from how she spoke with Beth, so maybe I’ll just wait till tomorrow.

How do I feel? Well, frankly, I don’t think we need to worry. Sure, Beth saved us all from them, but they’re still here. It’d be better if we took everyone down together, which we will.

I’m just going to leave-

“Why are you covering your mouth?”

Nicole is holding onto my arm. She won’t let me leave.

I sigh. I should have known she would press about it.

I lower my hand and give her my biggest smile.

“Oh my god…your teeth…”

“They’re monster teeth. I know.”

“You didn’t have them last time.”

“I didn’t.”

“We should tell Beth.” Nicole says, removing her hand from my arm. She said it reluctantly, though.

“We can wait. It’s no big deal.”

“But what if it is? What if it-“

“Then what do you want me to do? Tell Beth? Or wait?”

“Do whatever you think is best.” Nicole says.

Whatever I think is best? Just a second ago, she said that we should both tell Beth, and now she’s unsure?! What-Wait, I know what’s going on!

“You’re annoyed at her, that’s why you don’t want to talk to her.”

She’s glaring at me, which means I am absolutely correct. I mean, she’s always annoyed, that’s just her personality, but I understand why she’s like this. Beth is helpful, yes, but it was completely unnecessary for her to mention that she and Kellen didn’t have a weak will like me and Nicole, who turned into straight-up monsters from Dr. Hysterical’s curse last year. I could totally get why she’d be mad.

Maybe it’s a petty feeling, but we don’t need it rubbed in our faces how they were “perfect” and whatnot.

“That’s fine. I get it. We can wait till tomorrow. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’ve got parents to see.” I say, walking out of the bathroom, away from my reflection, and towards home.

We’ll figure it out, I’m sure of it!

Let’s see what Luke’s deal from last scene was all about.
If he says they don’t need to worry … but the rest of the paragraph feels like he’s worried after all, bc “they” are still out there.
Hmm I don’t get the feeling that it’s a horrible thing that Luke has monster teeth, maybe the beginning of a reversible transformation?

Oh my my, cowboys vs aliens - someone note the time and date, this is a historical moment (August Review Day 2025)
