Energy

Sometimes you just get that feeling
That nothing can take you down,
You know?
The world is my canvas
And I’ve got every single color
Of paint ever invented
And I’m about to take off
Into some otherworldly adventure
With dragons and swordplay
And magic and intrigue
And everywhere I go
People are watching me
Like I’m King of their world
Even though I live in this one.
It feels like that first moment of panic
When you reach the top of a roller coaster
And your stomach stays up there
While the rest of you speeds down and down
And then up again, and your stomach finally catches up.
It feels like the final leg of an epic race
In which you and an opponent have been
Neck and neck the whole time
And finally you pull ahead
And break through that red ribbon,
Cold on your sweating stomach,
Drenched in sweat
And confetti.
It feels like energy.
