My thoughts are in a faraway land,
A place where people face their troubles hand in hand.
I am their, not in body but in heart.
No matter how far apart,
Ireland and I are tied.
Even if we are separated by an ocean wide.
We are one.

I relate to this because I'm half Irish. I've never been there before although it's a big part of my ancestry. Nice.
I have never been there either but I have Irish and Scottish blood running through me
Okay, first of all i don't know what pulled me towards this probably the country thing. I've read way too many songs of this type but then who hasn't?

i didn't expect this poem to be this small but then after reading it, it came as a pleasant surprise. you have said so much in this few lines its a beautiful poem, so thumbs up for that.
i liked the part 'I am their, not in body but in heart.' i like the way you look at yourself and feel connected to your countrymen. i like the way you create a sense of belonging in this piece and it makes me feel home, that is one big triumph on the front of a writer.
okay, so biggest thing that got to me was the simplicity, you generally expect the smaller pieces to be more dense but yours was so simple and engrossing. it was over before i knew, i would have liked it to be longer.
there are a few instances which can qualify as errors (tiny ones) but i like to see them as a result the innocent voice of the narrator.
so no big problems as per i see this, the only thing i suggest is that when you write this small a poem a lot is taken away from your hands as a poet as you cant explain your front to the reader, so a lot is up to the interpretation of the reader. so you put your views more easily in a longer poem but then in that one thing you have to keep in mind is that you have to prevent the dilation of ideas.
that's all, i'd look forward to reading from you. all the best.
Thank you so much for the review! I always appreciate anything, no matter how small, that people can say. I appreciate them even taking the time of day to do that so thanks again!
Hello CapitalMonday here for a review. HAPPY ST. PATTY'S DAY, WEE CELTICTHUNDER!!! I myself is not Irish but somehow this sorta speaks to me (in a culture type). Also how there is end rhymes to add a beat and a tone, as saying you want to go back to Ireland but you can't yet you can feel the Irish spirit in you.
i think you have used the wrong -their. maybe try using -there, since that telling where something is instead of saying what belongs to something. Also i would suggest that maybe changing -not in body to -not in person or something similar to that.Nitpick(s):
Overall, i would say that people could relate since they have family members in other countries and wonder why they can't visit them and ask about what their ancestors have done before them. I am part South African and i had always wondered what my ancestors have done there to survive on this horrid planet.. i may never know.
(sorry for rambling, just my way of saying I love this poem.)
Farewell,
CapitalMonday
Thank you so much CapitalMonday! I really appreciate it. *facepalm* stupid mistake LOL
I'm Irish, actually Irish.
This poem is nice, I like it. It's simplicity makes it look well, it's short and sweet.
One thing I hate is poem that are too long with sentence structure that complicates everything; so I appreciate that this poem is quick and that it conveys it's message effectively.
It didn't give me goose-bumps or anything, but the poem reads well.
You clearly love our people, but keep working at it if you're hoping to be inspirational!
I am Irish also, my ancestors immigrated to Canada but Ireland is still tied to my heart somehow. It has a way of doing that to people. I hope to go back to the land of my grandfathers someday and make it my land
Well, there's not exactly much glory to be witnessed here at the moment
Give some of my works a review in return, would ya? Please and thanks
I will LOL I don't have much time right now because my Grandma is in the hospital and things are hectic but I will defiantly remember you!
Appreciated! And I wish the best for your grandmother!
Hi CelticThunder

I really like the simple message you portray here. I only have a few suggestions!!
First, in the second line I think the poem would flow better if you took out the words "A place" and simply put "where"
Second, in the third line "their" should be "there"
Finally, I would put "Even when" instead of "Even if we are" in the last line.
Just a few reeeaaally nit-picky things that I would help move the poem along better.
Very nice poem!! Thank you for sharing
Thank you so much Madison! Really appreciate it!
I myself am Irish, and it's kinda heart warming to read a poem about it. Its hard to be almost like you aren't apart of your own country, but, its a feeling that we can all have. Even though its rather short, its good in the way that it kinda reminds me of that home I have in Ireland myself. Thats a good idea of what poetry should be really about in my opinion, to kinda bring out the emotions in people, and you did a good job.
Thank you so much, I really appreciate it
I have never been to Ireland myself, I'm a farm girl and we don't have that kind of money, but I have rich Irish heritage and I consider Ireland part of me
<3 Nice to meet another fellow Irishman

Thank you again
btw have you heard of a band called Celtic Thunder?
