This poem was inspired by a pretty awesome quote:
Words are pale shadows of forgotten names. As names have power, words have power. Words can light fires in the minds of men. Words can wring tears from the hardest of hearts.
-Patrick Rothfuss, The Name of the Wind
Words have power
Words have meanings
Words have secrets
And Words are feelings
Words can break the hardest mind
Words can hurt the strongest man
Words can take away any strength
And words can kill the indestructible
Words can help you overcome
Words can bring you to believe
Words can give you tons of strength
And words can give you life again
A word carelessly tossed can wreck a ship
It can defy it's meaning and cause pain
It can stretch the bonds of friendship far
And it can destroy those shaky bridges
Words can heal the severed bonds
Words can fix those messes you caused
Words Can heal and make all well
And words can give back stolen love
Words can tear you down
They can bring you to your knees
They can deal the harshest blows
And they can take your life away
But words can also build you up
Can return the stolen faith
Can show you undying love
And Heal the brokenness inside
Why do words hold such power?
Why do words hold such meaning?
Why do words posses such weight?
And why do they deal so much feeling?
Don't throw words around like that
'I love you doesn't' mean so little
'You are beautiful' can hurt a lot
And 'I promise' is a lie
We say the stupidest things
Make the wrongest promises
Tell the most meaningful lies
And tell the stupidest truths
Stop saying that
Unless you really mean it
Because you don't mean it
And words have power

Hello, AutoPilot~
This is Swordfish (almost wrote MergSword >.>) here with another review for R.E.D and for Team Tortoise.
I AM IN NO WAY AN AUTHORITY OF POETRY. FEEL FREE TO COMPLETELY IGNORE MY REVIEW, AND TAKE GIVEN ADVICE AT YOUR OWN RISK!
I have a nitpick, it's the italics used throughout the entire poem. It makes it somewhat difficult to read, and I think it'd be best if we just it in regular font (unless it's not supposed to be).
I just mentioned the nitpick first because it was the thing that bothered me first. As for the theme of the poem, you're taking on a pretty strong approach, because it's true. Words are powerful and meaningful, and they really can be used for good, or to break one town.
Unlike the review below, I think the "inconsistency" is actually okay, because despite the fact you used "words" or "word" a lot, it is the theme of the poem, after all.
This is so far my favorite stanza, you really did bring in a lot of emotion here. I'm going to wrap up the review here. You did an excellent job! Keep on writing!

Thanks for the review!
The italics seemed to fit, they made it more... I don't know, but they fit. If they just make it harder to read, then I will definitely do away with them. That may have been my favorite stanza too, especially the last line; "And why do they deal so much feeling?" I feel like some people might read that a be like, 'That phrase seems wrongly written.' But they do deal feeling as much as they hold feeling.
Thanks again!
This is Yams here for a quick review!
You use the word "words" or "word" so many times in this poem. Like I get it's about words, but it gets /really/ repetitive in using the word so many times.
I feel like some of your stanzas were really strong and the others were very weak. Stanzas 2-5 are easily the strongest stanzas. Stanza 7 feels like it shouldn't be there since it's just asking questions and I don't feel like it needs to be there? In stanza nine you use "stupidest" twice which feels repetitive. But in stanza eight you really hit with the emotions there. The poem is inconsistent with it's quality and I feel like if you looked through it and took out some of the repetitiveness and stanzas that aren't as strong it would make an even greater poem!
Have a great day!
Ahhh! I didn't mean to use stupidest twice... Now I am mad at this poem XD
Okay, so thanks for the review first off. I know 'words' is used way more times than it should be, but when I was writing it, it kind of seemed to fit. Now I'm not so sure. *Enter Editing Process
