Daniel is at a space station when a meteor crashes with it. Daniel and another part of it float away and reach the event horizon of a massive back hole. Daniel emerges through a white hole in an unknown location.
Meanwhile, he also remembers how things were before he left Earth, and we see flashbacks of how he met Luna, his fiancee.
In the end, he finds another planet that supports life and ends up dying there due to disease.
Meanwhile, Luna is forced to continue on with life. She marries, and never speaks of this part of her life.
