Chapter One

I thought that we were just going to find the person who was making the cartoons to control everyone. I didn’t think that we would all be tied up by wires.

I can’t see with my eyes, since I don’t have any, but I still can imagine what’s there just by feeling things.

And I can see the cartoon on the screen.

Chapter Two

“Hello everyone! Welcome to our adventure! I’m Katie and these are my friends!”

An oddly shaped little girl with alarmingly large eyes is smiling at me from a screen in a world that looks brighter than anything I’ve ever seen, even brighter than Jenny’s house.

I think the TV got closer to me, but I’m not sure. Maybe the wires moved me. I don’t have a brain, but I still feel like I’m not thinking very well.

Chapter Three

I’ve been lost in this strange world for a very long time, but my friends are here to help me! Let’s go do what they say!

I see Katie talking to absolutely no one and us at the same time. I think there are mushrooms growing around me.

I feel the bloom of the plants where the wires would be.

Chapter Four

I don’t really need to walk. I’m part ghost, so I can just make my legs disappear if I wanted to. Which I’ve already done.

In front of me is the weird little girl-thing called “Katie”. She wants me to follow her. Eirisse wanted me and Ralph to follow her. She said that we were going to stop Andrea.

But I don’t know where to go. And I don’t see Ralph or Eirisse anywhere.

Chapter Five

I see a dark path with the trees, the branches lined with cobwebs. It looks like home to me.

Katie is going a little bit farther now. She doesn’t look back, not even for one second.

I run towards the path, hoping that I’ll be able to find my way back.

Chapter Six

My legs have grown on the bottom of my body. I’m walking down the path. I like that it’s dark, it feels comforting. I hear whispers in the bushes. It sounds like ghosts but it can’t be, because there are no ghosts here.

Maybe it’s just the wind. Or whatever serves as the wind in this dimension. I’m not really sure how all of this works.

I’ll continue on.

Chapter Seven

I don’t see anything yet. Sometimes it takes awhile to see where you want to go when you’re walking. That happens a lot where I’m from. There’s no reason to worry. I’ll get out. I-

Why are you going THERE, away from EVERYBODY ELSE?! COME BACK!

What-what’s this? I’m flying? Floating? What-the darkness-it’s coming away from me-what’s happening?!!

Chapter Eight

You can’t leave. They couldn’t leave, so why should you?

The voice in my head kind of sounds too happy, like Katie, but there’s something more to it, like it’s Andrea. But who is she-whoever she is-talking about, anyway?

I’m thrown into the glaringly bright light, where Eirisse and Ralph stand, not at all like themselves.

Chapter Nine

They look like they’re twitching…because they are. They can’t move! They’re only making sounds, unable to speak.

I sit up from the ground, standing up to face them. I want to run, but-

I can feel the shock along my body.

Chapter Ten

I usually can’t feel things, since I don’t have skin and all, but now? I’m screaming in pain. I thought that following the path would get me out of here but now I’m not sure. Is there an out? If there is a way in then there has to be a way out, right?

Wait a minute…Katie is a little kid…she’s younger than us…and supposed to be a human…this is all controlled by a human…

And we’re monsters. We scare people.

Chapter Eleven

I don’t know if I’m that intimidating. I don’t know if I’m intimidating at all.

But I can hear Katie get closer. When she gets up to us, I’ll pounce on her, claws, sharp teeth, all of it. I’ll channel my mother’s ghostliness and scream if I have to.

She’s coming.

Chapter Twelve

When I jump towards her, I don’t except my screaming to sound so high pitched. I’ve never screamed before.

It echoes throughout the landscape and sends her falling down. I scared her! I did it! I-

Everything looks all glitchy and shaky.

Chapter Thirteen

“You think that you can slip away from me?! After everything that I’ve planned out for you, everything I set up?!”

Andrea’s voice is yelling at us, but she’s not here. The sky looks like it’s getting closer to us. Eirisse and Ralph are back to normal now, standing beside me. Maybe they don’t need to scare anyone now, but they’re ready.

The sky seems to be falling on top of us.

Chapter Fourteen

It doesn’t look like we’re anywhere right now. Just pure blue and the sunlight. Yet I can see the lining of Andrea’s technology room…

That’s where we are. Back in her room.

I wrangle myself from the wires, which slip off of me. Ralph and Eirisse do the same. I don’t hear anything, but I’m not going to stick around to find out.

We have to leave.

Chapter Fifteen

I stumble out of the room as Eirisse and Ralph follow me. There’s the phantom pain of the wires and still, wires all around the too-girly house, but I think we can make it.

I don’t hear Andrea shouting at us. If I had lungs I think I would be panting right now.

There’s the stairs. We’re almost there!

Chapter Sixteen

I run down the stairs and pull open the door. There’s the pond that led us to the house. It’s not too far of a distance.

Now I can hear Andrea shrieking. The way she yells sounds almost like the monsters that I live with. Why does she hate us? What did we do to her?

It confuses me, but I’m not sticking around to find out.

Chapter Seventeen

I jump into the pond, the water loudly splashing as I swim on. I don’t need to breathe so I’ll be okay.

I know that Eirisse wanted us to stop Andrea, but I don’t know if we can. What if she finds us and traps us in the world again? What if scaring her in the real world isn’t enough?

Well, it probably wouldn’t be enough in the physical world, but I don’t want to wonder about it.

Chapter Eighteen

There’s not a lot of sunlight where I’m from. Only where Eirisse is. I can see that the sunlight above me has a sort of pink-ish tint, which means that I’m here, at Eirisse’s home.

I poke my head out of the water, glad that I’ve gotten away. I never thought that I’d be happy to be in her garden again and yet, here I am.

“We’re home!” Ralph exclaims, hugging me from behind.

If I didn’t have a permanent grin, I would have smiled. Because I feel like doing it now.

Chapter Nineteen

I swim up to the shore, Ralph still clinging onto me. Once we get to solid land, I turn around to talk to Eirisse-

She’s not there.

“Do you think she’s still at…?”

Ralph doesn’t finish his sentence. It’s already sunk in that she isn’t here.

Chapter Twenty

I guess I could go back and try to save her. I don’t know if it will be much help, though. We’ve already scared Andrea in the fake world, but is it enough against her in the real one? I don’t think so.

I don’t remember seeing cords in Eirisse’s home. I can hear her family’s voices. Maybe they’ll be able to explain-

No they won’t. It’s from her.

Chapter Twenty-One

“Where’s Eirisse? She’s not usually gone this long.” Islolabella, Eirisse’s six year old sister, asks.

“I-she’s with the humans. Through that pond.” I reply, pointing to the pond.

Islolabella and Elisnore, Eirisse’s two little sisters, peer into the pond. Eirisse’s parents glare at us both like it’s our fault, but it’s not like we wanted her to go to the human world.

I thought she’d follow us.

Chapter Twenty-Two

Ralph lets go of me and we both follow the lines of the cords. It doesn’t end here, we need to find the end source.

Why do I see the cords now? Were they always here…no, they weren’t. They couldn’t have been.

I don’t want to leave them all behind, but I think if we break the cords now, we can save Eirisse.

Hopefully we’ll be able to.
