In My Poetry

PreviousNext

The clip of the suitcase
I tightened my shoelace
Hand on the door, I closed
My eyes, no more composed

For I am a killer.
Blood on my hands, still her
Eyes shine bright, like silver.
Of course, this is for her.

No, she sees not my sin,
Blind, save my guilty grin
When we meet, my past fades
My day painted with shades

Of warm colors. But now,
My life: it’s gray and brown
Occasional crimson
This job is my mission.

I must, but must I? For,
If I walk through that door,
Then, there’s no turning back.
My heart slowly turns black.

Putting another man
Into the ground, I can
Feel the shaking of death.
To cause one’s final breath

Is not easy. I cause
Pain. Cries. Screams. All because
I love her. Shines, her light,
In the bright stars tonight.

The ground, like myself, dark.
The lights above, an arc.
As Atlas lifts the sky,
I must raise the stars, high.

With that thought in mind, I
turn the handle. I’ll try
to hold on to that view
When my bullet goes through.

The narrator is in fact a killer but can be justified as a "just killer" who did what he had to do and what he did was kill.

Think left and think right and think low and think high. Oh, the thinks you can think up if only you try!
