                                                                                                                     Chapter Three

Sliver was underwater. There were magnificent turtles swimming, circling her, and she loved the feel of cool water on her scales-this was her happy place. Suddenly, a dark shape flew over her. Then another, and another. Silver slowly surfaced, staring up. Fifty or so dragons were circling overhead.

"What's happening?" Silver muttered, trying to not let them notice her. This was strange-so many dragons from so many tribes, grouped together? This was something very new.

"Do you know what's going on?" She heard an Icewing growl to a nearby Skywing.

"I don't... this is unlike Snowfall-she usually tells us what's going on, when we have tribal meetings." Said the Skywing. "But do forgive me, I myself am not a master at calming Snowfall down."

"You'll want to call her queen Snowfall when you meet." said the Icewing. "Because believe me, the only dragons who can call her by her first name are... Lynx, and those sisters of hers, but that's it."

"I'm glad our queen isn't nearly as grumpy." said the Skywing. "She says..." gradually, their voices faded away until you couldn't hear anything at all. Silver strained to hear more, but that didn't work, of course. She sighed. maybe I should follow them? She thought impatiently.  But,she decided against it. This was strange all right. The dragons never really met together. At least, not in Icewing territory.

She slowly pulled herself out onto the sand, calmed down. She lifted off into the air, shaking water droplets off her scales. It was a beautiful day today, the kind one would want to spend outside until it got dark and you wouldn't see the talon in front of your face.  She touched down in the rain forest. Until she saw her! Glory was laying on a hammock, all alone.

"Glory?" asked Silver quietly.

"Hmmm?" asked Glory, still probably half-asleep.

"Listen, why is everyone-" began Silver, but Glory motioned to the hammock next to her. "I'm still doing sun time. We can talk when it's OVER." Silver sighed, but lay down. She had to admit, it was nice to get some more rest.

~~~
Fire was everywhere. Dragons were screaming, the world crumbling around them, sinkholes appearing out of nowhere.  Silver gasped.
"What's going on?" yelled someone. But Silver had no idea. She knew she couldn't see the future... that was obvious. So was this a dream? She had no idea-but she hoped it wasn't real. But, deep in the darkest part of her soul, Silver knew what it was.
~~~~

She woke with a start. What happened? Silver felt dizzy. But... She knew what happened had been a vision. She hadn't been blessed with vision of the future, she'd been cursed. Silver had been born born the darkest night, on Friday the 13th...  and she knew that she could see the worst possible scenarios in the future. The world was going to end.

Well that was unexpected!

Just like all the other reviews I want to mention how this really changes the scale of this story. Up until now I thought this was going to be a story about Silver and how she interacts with the world of Wings of Fire, but now all of a sudden her story is affecting the world as a whole.

Also, I like the explanation of her power/curse. After reading the story of Darkstalker through the eyes of Clearsight I can kind of see how this might turn out. Though the worst future doesn't mean it's the most likely one.
This also reminds me of a saying from Kung fu Panda. "One often meets his destiny on the road he takes to avoid it" Trying to avoid this future might actually cause it to happen.

The strange part about the Skywings and Icewings was intriguing and I wonder how that will tie in later.

Another side note I liked is that Glory was so resistant to sun time when she first heard about it but now... I wonder what she would think of her current self back then.

After reading this I'm curious when this story takes place. Because I thought Snowfall became a lot less grumpy after the incident with the ring of sight. Maybe she still has that reputation though.

I wonder where she was swimming too. Was it near the Icewing territory or the rainforest? It just felt like Silver took off from the beach and landed in the rainforest a moment later.
If she traveled quite a distance maybe leave a space between the paragraph where she lifted off and the paragraph where she landed.

Overall, a really good story again. I can't wait to see what kind of relationship Silver has with Glory

Chapter Three of 'Wetfire' effectively sets the bigger stage for the story with descriptive language and an obvious focus on the plot, through the gathering of dragons from different tribes and the revelation of Silver's seemingly cursed ability to see the future. The dialogue between the Skywing and Icewing adds depth to the world building and hints at power dynamics, while the shift in tone to a fire-filled nightmare creates a sense of urgency and fear. However, there is room for improvement in terms of smoother transitions between each scene and perhaps a deeper emotional depth in character interactions.
So far, this concept for this story is proving to be really exciting!

Good Morning/Afternoon/Evening/Night(whichever one it is in your part of the world),

Hi! I'm here to leave a quick review!!

First Impression: Hmm this was quite the interesting chapter. This one really ramps up the fear there, things really taking quite a serious turn with that. I think you've done a great job of building up quite a lot of tension here with this chapter and the one before it.

Anyway let's get right to it,

Sliver was underwater. There were magnificent turtles swimming, circling her, and she loved the feel of cool water on her scales-this was her happy place. Suddenly, a dark shape flew over her. Then another, and another. Silver slowly surfaced, staring up. Fifty or so dragons were circling overhead.

"What's happening?" Silver muttered, trying to not let them notice her. This was strange-so many dragons from so many tribes, grouped together? This was something very new.

"Do you know what's going on?" She heard an Icewing growl to a nearby Skywing.

Well this is quite the place to start. We left on a bit of an uneasy note earlier, now we're starting with something quite strange there. Silver just relaxing and having a pretty normal day from the looks of it to what looks like a rather important event of some kind. It doesn't look like a celebration or happy event from the looks of things.

"I don't... this is unlike Snowfall-she usually tells us what's going on, when we have tribal meetings." Said the Skywing.

Ooooh well all of that definitely suggest something urgent and something quite bad is taking place here and we've got some rather solid tension being built up here towards it all from just all the anticipation that we're seeing in this particular moment. Well, let's see what does in fact end up happening.

Hmm well... that was slightly anticlimactic. Right after we get all of those hints on potential danger and dragons all gathering we just have Silver end up being forced to lay down and rest for a moment. I suppose given it doesn't seem to immediately concern them, this isn't this isn't the worst idea.

Fire was everywhere. Dragons were screaming, the world crumbling around them, sinkholes appearing out of nowhere. Silver gasped.

"What's going on?" yelled someone. But Silver had no idea. She knew she couldn't see the future... that was obvious. So was this a dream? She had no idea-but she hoped it wasn't real. But, deep in the darkest part of her soul, Silver knew what it was.

Well...that is quite the dream there. Looks like the chance of a peaceful rest amongst that little rush we had is going to get dashed quite quickly there and poor Silver is now going to have to try and make sense of what these dreams could mean and if they are in fact real visions of a future.

OOoooh well if that isn't an ominous I don't know what is. Why, no holding back at all on that one. It seems like Silver really is seeing something horrible to come here and its easy to believe how this might come about given what we saw earlier on in the chapter.

Aaaaand that's it for this one.

Overall: Overall, a strong third chapter I think. You're definitely ramping up that tension wonderfully and I can't wait to see where you end up going from here. It looks like the next chapter is really going to throw our characters into some hot water.

As always remember to take what you think was helpful and forget the rest.

Stay Safe
Kate
