Anna
"Lights go down, In the moment we're lost and found, I just wanna be by your side, if these wings could fly..."
I smiled at Birdy's beautiful voice as my delicate wrist moved back and forth to make strokes of a light blue with a hint of shimmer to fill my imaginary sky in my imaginary world. It was nice to be able to paint anything I wanted. I could paint Heaven and Hell, a castle or a cell. I could pick where ever I wanted to spend the afternoons. I could be whatever I wanted.
I stared at the world I made in front of me. The glorious purple and blue shining sky spread out behind the vines and growth that twisted and turned through the green forest. The glorious castle was hidden behind the growth where a princess was locked inside a tower alone. She had enough things to keep herself busy and she had every paint known to mankind. She had things she could fix and things she could break. She knew she was beautiful and she knew she was free. No one telling her who to be, and no one telling her what to do.
But she was lonely, she was so lonely. She had no one to hold her, no one to love. No one to tell her she looked beautiful or she was strong.
I looked away. Apparently painting wasn't distracting enough. I looked in the mirror. My brown hair was swept up into a messy bun and my bandanda acted as a headband. My eyeliner had slightly thick wings and and my pink lip gloss made my lips shimmer. I didn't wear blush because my cheeks were naturally pink, but not red like some people. It looked like I put blush on, but I didn't.
I knew I was pretty. I knew it. It just seemed like I was imagining it sometimes.
I had dated many people before, but none of them wanted me for me, they just wanted sex. It's always sex at this age. None of them love me. They just love my body. I felt like my beauty was a curse sometimes.
I looked away from myself in the mirror and decided to try and eat something. After searching through my old fridge and finding an abundance of absolute nothing, I grabbed my keys and got in my truck.
I drove around for a while, going no where in specific, just letting my mind numb. When it was clear it wasn't going to stop, you know, the voices, I pulled into the local bar.
I showed my I.D and walked in. The bar was pretty bare, because this was a small town. There were very few people in the bar. I sat next to a guy in a leather jacket and ordered some scotch. I needed something strong to get myself through the night.
When the bartender with grey eyes gave me my drink I turned and realized I was staring into ocean blue eyes. They blackened in the middle, and were very vivid. So beautiful. I then realize I'm staring into the eyes of the man who was wearing the leather jacket, and that he was around my age. He had high cheekbones, a very structured face, and perfect lips. He's pretty much the definition of gorgeous.
"Hello." He said in a husky voice. He's lips parted into a smile, forcing you to look at them, fearing to not catch their beauty. I stared and only realized I hadn't said anything when he cleared his throat politely.
"Oh, um, Hey." I smiled and looked down, my natural pink turning red. I suddenly felt aware of everything I was doing, his smile sobering me up.
"Don't drink too much pretty lady, you might need me to drive you home." He laughed. I looked at him through my long eyelashes, hoping they would hide me away. I took another sip of my drink.
'What is that anyway? Vodka?" He asked, and then bent down to smell my drink. He laughed again, "Scotch. Tough night, huh?" He brushed his fingers through his hair, winked at me, then went to join his friends. I thought about him as I sipped the burning liquid over and over, until my mind was too numb to think about anything.
---
The sound of cracking and popping and the smell of delicious bacon is what woke me up, then, I freaked out because I was on a stranger's couch! Where the hell was I and what happened last night? Was I raped? By who?
I slowly got up, realizing I was still in my skinny jeans and tee I was in the day before. My hair was a mess and I was sure my make up was smeared. But I didn't really care as I stalked slowly into the kitchen to see who was preparing the delicious food.
I stopped dead in my tracks when I saw the man, now in sweatpants and a tee, with the ocean blue eyes staring right back at me. I lost my breath and didn't know what to say, until I finally got my nerve. "What the hell happened?" My voice cracked a bit on happened but my face never faltered.
"You were drunk. You couldn't even walk straight, I had to make sure you got home." His voice had such a weight on it that I could tell he was just a little bit drunk, his tone is so serious and dark it made me feel bad about causing him trouble.
"Oh..." I replied. "Alright." I sat down in one of the chairs at the wooden table.
"You aren't going to ask if I raped you or something?" He rose his eyebrow, as if he was suprised by this.
"Well, I wasn't. But I was thinking it." I replied. There was a short silence between us and then I sighed. "You didn't did you?" I looked at him and he winked, barely doing it with a smile.
"Not this time." He laughed, but soon grew serious again. I hoped he was lying. I watched him turn around and start flipping the bacon and realized I didn't know his name.
"What's your name?" I asked after a long silence. He turned around and stared into my eyes, as if giving this information would mean he would have to kill me afterwords.
"Iggy. Yours?" He raised his eyebrow, which I decided was something he did a lot.
"Anna." I replied. He nodded and turned back to the pan. We ate in silence, he was staring at me and I was staring at my plate, pretending not to notice.
We got in his car and he took me back to the bar so I could drive home.
I found myself wondering when I would see him again.
If I would see him again...

Hi there Lylas!
It's also good to see that you've been doing some novel writing seeing as I know you are much devoted to your poetry!
Thanks for tagging me in this when you posted the first chapter! I was meaning to read this when I first saw it in the green room but my to review list didn't leave me too much time to review it quite before it escaped the room. I am here now though, and would love to keep reading your story. After co-writing with you for a little, I think it's the least I could do
What I liked about this chapter was that it was to the point. I feel like this Iggy guy is going to be the romance interest for this story, and he has already been introduced which is pretty face paced for a romance story. I can only hope this means there are going to be many trials for them to overcome and encounter throughout the novel so the romance doesn't happen too fast or the story doesn't end up too short. I am looking forward to knowing what is going to happen next! You've also already showed us that Anna can feel a lot, especially when she has a bad day. And she tends to be a bit reckless - drinking so much that a stranger had to bring her home and she didn't even heed his warning.
One thing I noticed is that when she woke up the next day she was in a perfectly fine mood. When people tend to have drunk too much they usually have a hangover the next day, especially when drinking isn't something they do often. Now, I don't know if Anna is a pro-drinker or not, and I wouldn't be able to tell you what a hangover feels like, but it was just something I think would add more realism to the story if it was in there. Please consider it! I think she wouldn't be feeling 100% in the morning anyway.
I know this is quoting lyrics, but even they have endings to sentences and all that. I felt like the first comma should've been a full stop instead, to justify the capital letter that followed on after it. Also, I felt like the second comma should also be a full stop, if I am not mistaken.
I felt like the comparison of Anna to the girl in the tower confused me a little bit. At first I assumed it was what she was painting, but then I figured out that the way you were saying everything meant that the main character was lonely and locked in a tower. And in the end, I concluded that Anna was just a normal person and compared her life to that of one who would've been locked away in a tower. I am not sure which of the three it is supposed to be, but if you enlighten us, and make it a bit more clear in the chapter I am sure it would be fine!
Beautiful descriptions! Actually, the beginning of this chapter started off with a lot of lovely descriptions seeing as she was painting and all. Make sure you keep those persistent throughout the other chapters as well so that the language keeps the readers engaged! My only problem with this quote that you use the words 'growth' and 'glorious' twice, each for describing something. That makes the words seem repetitive and I am sure that synonyms can help add a bit more variety to your vocabulary here.
I would cut the first two words after the comma, and voila! Perfect sentence
Here we have the repetition of 'I looked'. Try to add some more in there, a transition between her painting and checking herself out. It could be anything, even something as simple as putting the paint down and washing off her brushes. It would signify himself ending something and starting something new.
The only thing here was that throughout this chapter Anna never once mentions her age! And I am sure foreign readers want to know it too.
No need for the word 'in' here.
Don't say you know, because we don't know! You haven't mentioned hearing voices yet, so what do they say? What do they do and do they harm you in any way? When do these voices come and go? I am so intrigued in knowing more on this subject without getting it breezed past!
No comma needed. The next line or one really nearby this one practically repeated you and said the same thing twice. I would advise a bit more communication went on, because when she showed up to board the plane se confessed to what bad quality she was being given.
Make the comma a semi colon or add in the word 'or' after the comma.
A comma is needed in place after the second word.
I feel like the first comma should really be a full stop. Also, thinking about this, I can understand how they would eat in silence. But drive back in quiet too? The driver expect his passengers to converse and laugh. I think if I just saved a woman who was so drunk she wasn't able to walk to the car, I would also have a few questions. Some for safety and some for just making conversation. But yes, there should be more talking, or at least when they depart!
I also couldn't quite understand where all of this was taking place? There wasn't too much description given to setting which is a shame because both drive rides she takes would've been a perfect opportunity to show where she is and all. I also wonder what it is exactly that Anna does that, and why it made her so sad today of all days. Just make sure that we have some elements of setting in there!
Finally, I just wanted to say that I did enjoy this and can't wait to see Anna's character development further into the story. I will be getting to chapter two soon
Deanie x
Very good things! I will get to revising soon!

I'm the kind of writer that likes to tease the reader. I won't give you the whole story right away. The voices? They'll come in later. So will her past.
The next chapter is lousy Dx I'm working on it, It's hard for me to write from the P.O.V of a male. But I'm working on it.
Again, thank you!
Love, love, LOVING what you have so far. Though I have a little tip for you (Just to be safe). You might want to bump the age restriction on this, since it seems a little heavy of a topic for some readers. Or at least for what I think this story might be about...

As far as plot goes, I think I need to see more until I really judge on content, but it's wonderful for what it is at the moment. Remember to always go over and edit your work before publishing. I found a few spelling errors but I'm a little too lazy to go over my nitpicks at the moment. Besides, there wasn't much to list anyway. :p
Can't wait to see more of your interesting characters! And just who is this mysterious Iggy?!
Oh, and for a title, I think 'Beautifully Lonely' fits well. For the chapter at least. Nicely done.
I changed the title
I like your story a lot because it's so descriptive especially in the first paragraph, as mattk mentioned. I thought of "Beautiful Strangers" for a title since he's a stranger and he's beautiful,
. But it's your story and you should choose a good title which I hope you do since it's a really good story. I didn't see any mistakes in your story. I do hope you keep writing this story because it is really good.As I said keep writing!
Legend
Thanks! Changed the title
Wow! Great start! Already pulled in. I feel like that last IF is foreshadowing something bad though. As for titles, can't really help you there because I myself find it hard to come up with them. Sometimes I go for song titles.
The first paragraph was beautiful. I love the way it's written. You can really relate to what's being said and picture it in your head.
Keep up the good work. Can't wait to see what else you add to this story. You should add more about ANNA and Iggy and their backgrounds so we learn more about them. And try to put in things one WOULDNT expect to make it even more interesting.
Best of luck!
I will show more and more of Iggy and Anna's past as the story goes on.
