There once lived a fifteen year old girl named Eleanor Wilson, who loved to fantasize on going her own supernatural adventures with a demon boyfriend, to feel more important than she did in her own life, like she was something greater.
She did not talk about it with her older sister, Kelly, for she felt that it was “too sacred” to talk about with just anyone, so she kept her fantasies to herself, wishing that she had deeper connections with people, that magic was real, that she would just do something different from her own life.
One day, Eleanor met a boy named Tyler Laurence who had just moved into town. He was a boy whose black hair swept around his face in waves, whose gray eyes twinkled brightly with many secrets and so Eleanor just had to talk to him.
He didn’t seem to want to talk to other people, but he had taken an interest to her love of fantasy stories, her love of imagining purely anything and never once made fun of it. They only ever talked about her dreams of adventure, her wish for wanting fiction to be real, and never about anything personal. For with them, they didn’t need to talk about family or “real life important stuff”, only the imagined and the impossible.
Their friendship was something that Eleanor cherished deeply, something that she hoped would expand into more with every conversation they had at school or in her house, something that she anticipated to be more, until one day, in her bedroom, when Tyler told her something that she would never expect to hear from him.
They were sitting on her bed, looking at all of her drawings in her sketchbook, when Tyler opened his mouth and said:
“I know that this may sound astonishingly insane, but I’m a real life demon who crawled straight out of Hell and I need a human to marry and have a son with so that he can continue on the tradition of eating souls. I shouldn’t tell anyone this, but I’m telling you, because you’re someone that I can trust, someone who understands, someone who gets it.”
Eleanor blinked, hardly believing the words that came from his mouth. Was he seriously, for real, telling her that he was a demon? Why would he say something like that? There was absolutely no way that he could be a demon, because demons didn’t exist. Unless…
“Prove it.” Eleanor said, for she wanted to see just what Tyler would come up with for an answer.
For the first time since she met him, Tyler smiled with all of his teeth showing, all of his inhumanely sharpened teeth. His right hand morphed and twisted into a clunky black claw, then changed right back into a soft-skinned human hand.
“So it’s true…you are a demon and you’ve come to take souls.” Eleanor gasped.
Her heart raced rapidly in her chest, but not out of fear. No, for in that moment, she realized that she could live out one of her favorite dreams and desires. She could be his wife, she could give him a demon son and if he took her soul then who cared? At least she would be forever bound to him and nothing would bring them apart.
“Have you ever considered marrying me in the future? I wouldn’t mind all the soul-taking, it’s just that you are so dreamy that I can hardly imagine not being with you. You’re such a good listener and I would do anything for you. I would-“
“No offense, Eleanor, but your soul isn’t the kind that I’m looking for.” Tyler said, an expression of discomfort and maybe a hint of pity on his face.
What? What? How could she NOT be the soul that he was looking for? Didn’t they have a deeper connection? Why wouldn’t he pick her? Did any of their conversations mean anything to him?
Tyler had changed the subject into something about school and Eleanor did not feel right to bring it up again. Maybe talking about it wouldn’t help.
Maybe she had to work harder to make him want her.
…………………………………………………………………………………….
The next day, Eleanor decided that she would introduce Kelly to him, so that he would see how much better she was than Kelly and then they would both laugh about Kelly together.
In the hallway at school, Eleanor dragged Kelly by the hand to Tyler’s locker, ignoring how she protested with meeting him. She had to see him, so that Tyler could know which girl to be with.
Once they got to the locker, Tyler putting his stuff away, Eleanor opened her mouth and said:
“Tyler, meet my sister, Kelly. Kelly, meet Tyler. He’s the guy I made friends with a few days ago! He’s so smart and cool that you just HAD to meet him and he’ll listen to you! Not to mention, he’s pretty good-looking too!”
Eleanor couldn’t help herself, she had to point out his beauty. Who wouldn’t love the way his black hair shaped his pale face, the way his gray eyes sparkled, the way his voice seemed to carry throughout the wind, the way he made everyday clothes seem majestic?
Tyler was staring at Kelly, but maybe that was because he thought she was strange. Who wouldn’t, with her black and gray clothes more suitable for a vampire than a human? Eleanor was bright and pastel, so she and Tyler would go together more perfectly, just like in the stories she read, than Kelly and Tyler.
But as the days went on, Tyler didn’t really say anything to Eleanor other than a simple “Hi”. He conversed with Kelly more and Kelly, oddly enough, seemed to be smiling more with him around. Eleanor didn’t understand why they went out more after one interaction, but she still tried to talk to Tyler and still, he ignored her in favor of Kelly.
What was it that Kelly had that she didn’t? Was it her soul? Did he like her soul better? That must have been the case, since he was searching for souls to take.
Eleanor had once asked Kelly if she thought that Tyler wasn’t a human and Kelly had stared at her as though Eleanor had morphed into a hunchback creature, then said “Life isn’t one of your stories, Eleanor. Of course he’s a human.”.
So Tyler hadn’t even told Kelly the truth, so why was he with her? Why wouldn’t he talk to Eleanor? Didn’t he say that Eleanor understood? Why did he turn around just to go with Kelly?
Eleanor kept trying to talk to him, to not give up on their brief friendship that she believed deserved to last a lifetime, to develop into something more, but as the years went on, Tyler always chose Kelly and never told Eleanor why.
And then, Eleanor was attending their wedding, wiping her eyes with tears that seemed so strong it would tear her apart, wishing that Tyler would have a correct judgement of the both of them, wishing that it were her on the altar and not Kelly.
Why couldn’t he see that she was the one for him?

I like the fairytale like character of the beginning.
(But then again, she did the introduction what did she expect to happen?)
I also like how you show exactly why Eleanor would like Tyler. And that it makes her forget about her wish for a demon boyfriend (knowing you, Tyler might later be revealed as one tho but Eleanor doesn’t know that. She just takes him at face value and is impressed :3)
I write this and a second later Tyler goes like “btw, I’m a demon.” Hach, wonderful! I also love that after the initial, instinctual fear, Eleanor is SO on board with the demon bf agenda =D Also no questions asked about how he’s acquiring souls and who is hurt in the process, just teenage love :3 And the fact that she equates being a soul he wants with being marriage material… that is very strange.
I find Kelly’s answer to the question if she thinks Tyler is human somewhat unconvincing. Does she know after all?
Oh I like that Eleanor didn’t get to have her dream. What a sad twist for her
Thx for your comment and I%u2019m glad you enjoyed!
You certainly write a lot! This story is about love and jealousy, and it is very good. The names you give are creative. I had to use AI to help me with my story. It is my first time lol. I hope that you can write what happens to Eleanor, Tyler, and Kelly after the wedding. I can tell that Eleanor really likes him. Tyler seems like a person who like to assume things. I love the storyline, and like what I say at the end of every review, KEEP WRITING
