Listen to the guitar

In Other poetry

Close your eyes
And listen.
Listen to the vibration
And the melody combined.
If you pay attention,
You can hear
Each string...
Singing.
The solo is great
As the pick hits one.
But the choir
Is brilliant
When singing together,
They're all strummed.
Close your eyes
And listen.
Listen to the harmony
Made with the strings.
Listen to the guitar
And the magic it brings.

Hey there!

It's a lovely subject for a poem, is music. Very nice. However, as June said, you're just telling us about the music. The reader wants emotion, they want feeling. They want imagery and poetic devices! There are so many possibilities, why not use them?

Hey there,

I think that you should take the time to improve this poem, dear. While the description of the guitar here is adequate, you're basically just telling us what it is. Where's the imagery, and your unique view on it? It's easy to understand that the guitar is melodious, but what type of melody is it? How does it sound? Is it metallic? The sound of nylon strings?

I think you should elaborate; define the guitar in your own way, a way that the rest of us may not see it in. Take your time and turn this into something uniquely wonderful.

Thanks for the comments. And I guess it didn't cross my mind to seperate them into stanzas. But I see how it could've helped. Thanks again for the encouragements. :)

It flows well, and does wrap up quite nicely. I do not know why you did not separate the stanzas. This would give a longer pause to further pronounce the change in speech for a reading. Also I'd like to point to the group effectiveness that it unbalanced when you read it logically.

Since the end of each piece has a period and thus has a longer pause when read, it shows up in this form. Tending to be a little lopsided and uneven I think it prevents this poem from becoming even better then what it is now.

Everything has to be taken on trust; truth is only that which is taken to be true. It's the currency of living. There may be nothing behind it, but it doesn't make any difference so long as it is honoured. One acts on assumptions. What do you assume?
