The Softness of Cheeks

I always thought that tears marred beauty~
a sign of weakness for all to see.

But I guess the boys can't see the loneliness,
and can't tell the heartbreak these tears leave behind--
no one seems to notice how weak I am.

I guess that tears don't hurt anything~
they're why these cheeks are so soft.
They don't make my mascara run--
and I still look beautiful, even though I'm not.

This was quite a calming poem,If I do say so myself.I think that it’s about how tears might be different in the eyes of others.Maybe even being afraid to cry.I think people look beautiful even with running mascara. That was unrelated but it’s just my thought! Again this is a wonderful poem.I hope that you have a lovely and awesome day and night.

Hi!
God, I love this.
It is simple and elegant and straightforward, but it still feels powerful and emotional.
The persona you created in this is remarkable. She sounds contemplative and wondrous without too much going on to make her seem like that.
And I absolutely adored these lines:
"I guess that tears don't hurt anything~
they're why these cheeks are so soft."
However, one note I do have to make, is that your conventions are off-putting. I would suggest sticking to one form of punctuation like periods, semi-colons, and commas, because it gives off a cleaner look. The dashes work to convey a point, but I feel like they would be better characterized by semi-colons. And the tilde seems out of place in the poem and takes away from the meaning.
Overall, this poem is amazing and beautiful and I'm in awe that it's so short yet so great.
Keep writing and good luck,
Dianne E.C.E.

Timmy here for a short review on review day!

I would have made some sarcastic remark about you being a Cobalt, but it seems as though you aren't on a team. :( Too bad. Instead I have to review!!

So this was a wonderful poem. I really see the sadness, the passion, and the loneliness inside this work. Although I am a guy and it seems as though this poem wasn't intended for guys, I can still see what you mean.

Tears don't hurt anything! But people always tell you to Suck it up! Be a man! and this poem kind of tells the opposite... Which I like. Sometimes it is good to be sad, and let it show. And yes, we boys can be quite blind sometimes. :P

So I will just hit a few nitpicks, if I can find any...

I always thought that tears marred beauty~
a sign of weakness for all to see. ----That part seems too short! I loved that first line, and wonderful beginning, and the second line seemed to follow up on that. But then it was over and you went on to a different idea!

But I guess the boys can't see the loneliness, ---I think the but could be cut out there

no one seems to notice how weak I am. ---Seems like a full sentence, and reads like one, but it doesn't appear to be punctuated like one.

and I still look beautiful, even though I'm not. ---I'm sorry, but that line didn't seem to make sense to me.. It seemed contradictory... Is it because I am a guy and don't understand that sort of thing? :P

I think that sums up my nitpicks! I loved this poem, truly, and can't wait to your next one!
Happy review day and keep writing!

Good job on being simple. I usually cant focus on anything longer than three stanzas and you realy drew mew me in. your talent shows in this peice. The last line is one of my favorites. It makes a really depressing ending. The only thing Iwould work on is adding imagrey to the piece. It sounded kind of like a nerrative. good job!

For starters, this was absolutely incredible! Great job.

I found this was both heartwarming and tear-jerking all at the same time. The message is powerful and meaningful, and definitely a poem worth sharing because of that.
There is not a single thing wrong with this piece, it is golden through and through! Keep up the great work!

Wow, this was so beautiful! :O
My favourite line was:
"I guess that tears don't hurt anything~
they're why these cheeks are so soft."
That was so good, I was reading it and was totally admiring your skills!

There's one little thing I'd suggest...:
Changing this line: "and can't tell the heartbreak these tears leave behind-- "
To something a little more clear as I found it a bit of an awkward line. (With awesome meaning, mind.)
So something like: "and can't see the heartbreak these tears leave behind-- "
Just to make it a little more clear..? :)

But overall, amazing poem, I get the feeling I'm going to be reading this a lot and coming back to it to read... great work!
