Stale Water

E - Everyone

In Diving Into The Deep

There will be a last moment,

where we gasp dry mouthed for the final time.

The days will be a stark brown, crisped surfaces,

crumpling at each fragile step humanity takes.

The limit is nigh,

no more air inhaled, no thirst to be quenched.

The rivers will not fill, not even by our own superior will,

we are humanity, we demand to survive.

Yes, we are humanity, but we shall not thrive,

the last drop has been drunk, the final sip sipped.

Now,

humanity will only swim in agony,

over what is gone, and what will be sorely missed.

I like the depth of this poem, it gets to the core of what humanity has become. I do however wonder what you meant by saying "the limit is nigh," then went on to elaborate how its already been reached. Several readers may find this confusing and I think it is a little off balance. Past that, this is a beautiful piece, and I loved reading it, continue writing, because this is amazing.

it's nigh, not high and i meant near. The amount of water left will soon end.

truthfully true but i wonder how many people consider this serious. i think it's time people begin to take life more seriously and be reminded that they surely gonna give account of their lives. yea yea yea what if people don't believe in the day of accountability - that still doesn't give us the go-ahead to live prodigally or engage in vanity. great piece.
