Is a slippery slope

In Poetry

I ventured down to the seaside

Filled with sultry wind and amorphous tides

Whence I found solace in frosty nights

Now I found wonder in the lambent starlight

That made the ocean glimmer, like silver hearts

But as I neared the coaster cliffs

Pieces of rock would fall

Over a jagged edge

Into an abyss of pain and vacuous smiles

And so, I stood

Beneath the stars and the rockets

As they all crumble into ashes

And once again, I must remind myself

The way down to the seaside

Is a slippery slope

This is a very nice poem, and I loved some of the imagery!
The rhythm of this poem is unflawable, it seems like it is being read at a steady pace, and without any sort of trips or stumbles or sudden shocks brought on by a semi colon.
I think the last line could have been improved, as the build up seemed to be leading up to somthing deeper.
Hope this helps,
Take That You Fiend!

I really loved this. You crafted a really deep, free verse piece here.
Your use of words like "sultry" and "lamber" created a really strong image in my mind as I read the piece.
I also found the start and finish of the piece especially well written. The word "venture" makes it sound like a journey at first, like something fun. Then the last three lines

" And once again, I must remind myself

The way down to the seaside

Is a slippery slope"

Makes it seem like she learnt a lesson long ago and the seaside has reminded her of it. Going to the seaside is no longer an adventure, it is painful.
It's a very beautiful poem, and I loved it.

This is a very nice piece of writing yet again, Laure :P
The way that you cross out the "Rockets" bit is VERY well done and puts more of a negative spin on it, I found :)
My favourite line:
"That made the ocean glimmer, like silver hearts"
That was beautiful imagery. Really. I had a clear picture of it in my head as to what you'd written. Beautiful.
Also the last line was so powerful.
"A slippery slope"
That is so cleverly written. I can interprate it in many ways, which is good, and I just think you are a talented writer in general. Sorry for no faults, but great work! :D

Wassup wassup.
Ossum here for a review.

So I wanted to say that the imagery here was very nicely executed, and the detail was superb. Definitely a work of some serious effort on the author's part. And the skill at which it was done could rival any other professional works of art as well, in my opinion anyways. And now onto the other side of the poem. This piece speaks many different things to the reader. As I read this, I felt myself complied to read it twice more to try and understand the meaning of what I had perceived to be what you had intended. Though each time I read it through, I found myself thinking of something else entirely.

The ability to make a reader want to reread your work is great, and takes a skill that does not come easily. Though I believe that the effort of putting in the imagery of the poem, overstepped the line between imagery and conveying the author's ideas. The theme is there, and the tone and mood is set. But the words you are speaking through your images are blurred because all we can see and hear are what you have laid out before us. Like giving us nothing to hold on to as the rocks fall from the cliff. Again, an excellent piece that was a wonderful read, and I hope to read more from you soon.

8/10

Ah, thank you for that. :) well, actually. I kinda left it like that to let the readers interrupt however they want but I'm a bit curious. What did you think it represents?

Ossum replied · Jan 11, 2014

The first time: The feeling you get when you meet new people.
Second read: Heartbreak
Third: Heartbreak when meeting someone new who you liked.
xD

Laure replied · Jan 11, 2014

:o oh....that's interesting actually. Is actually a combination of two and three. Is when after a heartbreak, you attempt to dive into love again but before you do. You remind yourself not to get too attached hence- is a slippery slope. Meaning the road down to love is a dangerous one. But it was really interesting to see your interpretation. Thank you again!

You are most welcome ^-^
Look forward to hearing more from you, and of course, hearing your opinion of my own works ^-^

"The trouble with Borrowing another mind was, you always felt out of place when you got back to your own body, and Granny was the first person ever to read the mind of a building. Now she was feeling big and gritty and full of passages. 'Are you all right?' Granny nodded, and opened her windows. She extended her east and west wings and tried to concentrate on the tiny cup held in her pillars."
