A New Year’s Eve -
The last grains of an hourglass,
Draining away all that we cling onto.
A countdown of thoughts.
Images of the past blur into one
As we create our own judgement day.
Luckily for tonight, hope is our detachment.
A new life shall be born with the early light.
A new person will stand in the same shoes.
You can see it.
You can feel it.
You can taste it on your tongue!
Beginnings and endings all around.
United we lift our grins to the heavens.
The night giving us one last ‘hurrah!’
An explosion of colours and emotions.
Light and sound raining from the sky.
Nothing could say more
Than this symbolic moment of ‘I made it’.
But looking around we are mistaken.
For these fireworks reflect in the eyes of us all.
We made it.

Hey therealme,
Firstly i would like to wish you a very happy new year!
New year is a new beginning for all of us. To leave behind our past and start afresh. Leave behind all our sins and mistakes we committed and hope that in this new year we become a better person. And at midnight, when we see those fireworks in the sky- that is the most magical moment.
Your poem is simply wonderful. I loved it! The structure and everything is just so good. The start, the body, the end- its all so good. And this poem has a wonderful meaning behind it.
i loved a couple of stanza's in your poem :
" A new life shall be born with the early light.
A new person will stand in the same shoes.
You can see it.
You can feel it.
You can taste it on your tongue!
Beginnings and endings all around.
Magical perfection.
United we lift our grins to the heavens.
The night giving us one last ‘hurrah!’
An explosion of colours and emotions.
Light and sound raining from the sky."
Your poem is amazing and i would love to read more of your work!
Keep up the good work!

hello there, therealme
i really loved this poem. It was a great work to read to finish out the year. most of what i habe to say is good i just have one negative comment at the end so here goes.
the first section really demonstrates how time passes if we are ready for it to go or not. and how a lot of the time, we aren't.
in the second stanza, you talk about how quickly time can pass. I like how you incorporated judgement day there and how it talks about the way we shape our own judgement. And the last line... "hope is our detachment" i like that a lot because its so true. quite often, hope is all we have.
the third stanza is probably my favorite. talking about how it is a chance to start over, and not be the same person we were before. closing the door on old lives to open better ones. And how even the people around us notice it.
but in the fourth stanza you continue this train of thought, incorporating the fireworks that everyone loves to see on new years. This stanza shows how we all get that chance at a new beginning.
In the last stanza you do a wonderful job of rounding everything out and i love how you put it into the poem as saying we made it through another hard year.
the last line is honestly perfect. saying how we all did and made it together. Perfectly sums up the whole idea.
now, that one negative comment. i like the line "magical perfection" but it doesn't really fit with the rest of the work.
keep writing, this was a masterpiece!

Hi!
Fitting poem to end the year!
Favorite lines!
Happy new year to you <3
Well done on this poem. Like the serif typeface.
For the most part this poem made sense to me. There was one line however, "as we create our own judgement day".
I understand what judgement day is, it's just I is to stupid to understand it in this context.
What I liked the most was the last line, "we have made it" because it contains the 2 most important things a last line should have. That is firstly a difference to the other lines, in sentence structure and whatever. Secondly it sums up the entire poem really well, and gives the sense of a journey competed. Another thing it has is it links in with the last verse, which is really nice.
Hope this helps,
Take That You Fiend!
