Oh mine friend
thy patience is boundless.
The w'rld hath turned 'gainst me
yet by my side thee hadst stayed.
I hadst placed in thy hands-- maps:
maps of mine own heart
scatt'r'd with wounds-
wounds which thee coulds't has't deepen'd.
But nay;
Thou art nobl'r than such despicable acts.
Thee hadst not broken mine own trust
Trust- a thing so fragile-
Thee strengthen'd it.
And the wounds-
thee did sew those
and did heal those with thy love.
Oh mine friend,
I call thee hencef'rth
mine saviour
for I owe my life to thee.

Hello! This is a very beautiful piece detailing the intimate friendship of two very close people. The old English was distracting at times, but I felt it gave the open it's own flair, if you may. You do a great job of portraying how thus friend is your one beacon of hope in a cruel world that has done you wrong. If I had to critique perhaps you could go over the old English language used? I'm not very familiar with old English but some phrases sound off to me. However it's impressive you wrote thus when you were only 14! Keep up the good work!
Thank you for the appreciation!
Hello there! This is Vilnius with a review.
First off, I really like the Old English/medieval way this poem reads. It's Shakespearean, which I'm normally not fond of, but I think you used it really well here! I really think that you've crafted a really good work here.
Did you revise it before posting, as you wrote it in 2017? I'm only asking because it's an older work, and it's normally a good idea to revise before sharing.
Have a nice [*insert time of day*]!
Thank you for the appreciation!
Hello, I am here to review this poem. I liked the devotion between the friends mentioned in the poem. I believe a good friend with a boundless patience is an amazing thing and the narrator is lucky to have him or her by their side.
Another wonderful thing is a friend who supports you even if others have turned their backs on you. I believe the fact that the narrator gives maps of their hearts to their friend shows a level of trust so deep that has to be mutual. And i love the fact that the friend is descried as "noble, not capable of such despicable acts" like causing heartache.
Love is a good mender and like a healing salve, the most efficient one I've ever known. In the poem it's also like a needle capable of sewing the wounds of the heart.
In other words loved your poem, as it shows how strong philia can be.
Thank you for the detailed read, the review, and for those sweet words!
