Untold Feelings

When I look at you,
An indescribable feeling washes over me,
When I catch a glimpse of your deep green eyes,
For that second the sun doesn’t shine as bright,
For that second I cannot say a single word,
For that second, only you exist.

Your laughter echoes into my ears,
Replaying the angelic sound in my head,
Taking note of how your eyes have a shine to them,
It doesn’t matter that I am not the one making you happy,
Even if it continually makes my heart bleed to see you with her,
I will do anything to see you smile.

My mind always wanders to you,
The way you might play with my fingers,
The way you might lean your head against my shoulder,
The small and loving smile you might wear while gazing at me,
The satisfied sigh you might let out,
The way the earth would stop rotating when our lips meet,
The conversation we might have if you were here,
You’re so close to me yet so far away.

But you seem happy and that's enough for me,
If that means I have to forget about my feelings for you,
So I wouldn’t burden you with my confession then I would,
My mouth is closed and the key long gone.

I am writing down the memories and feelings,
Much like a goodbye letter from me to you,
I will never forget the way you made my heart uncontrollably race,
How just merely locking eyes with you made my day,
The rays of sunlight alighting your face; took my breath away,
But those things also break my heart at the same time,
You’re so beautiful yet so untouchable,
So it’s time for me to leave these feelings behind.

You’re so special,
Entirely different from everyone I’ve ever met,
And everyone I will ever meet.
I don’t think I can actually forget you,
You will always have a part of me,
And next time I see you,
I'll smile at you with joy.

Farewell,

Much love from me.

Hello!
I'm Maddy, and I'm here to give you a review! This piece is absolutely wonderful. I can relate to it perfectly, yet it feels so original. You took a very popular topic and made it your own, but you did it in a way that a lot of people can understand and relate to. I admire you for that. I also enjoyed how it was kind of written like a letter, with th closing and everything. There are a few places in this poem that seemed to kind of drag on for me, where I just skipped over some of the words because they were too long or didn't help the beautiful story you had written. But other than those few places, this poem really hits home. I look forward to reading some of your other works and I am so glad that I read this one. Happy writing!
