The road is long,
the road is wide,
I walk barefoot on this ground tonight.
I've left everything,
and stand naked,
the memory of my younger self awakened.
Her eyes are the same,
I don't know where to begin,
she smiles and asks where I've been.
I've been travelling these roads for 20 years,
and sometimes my feet get sore,
so I just sit on the side and marvel at it all.
The open endless road,
the paths I have yet to take,
Hoping that the hands of time will not break.
During my trip,
I've met people who have held my hand,
They led me to the lake on no-man's land.
In between the fighting sides,
I've found peace in the quiet,
and continually faced my Goliath.
The river runs deep,
and water washes the stones,
my regrets are cleansed with the flow.
I'm travelling down this road,
no idea where it leads,
but knowing I am at ease.

This poem is amazing! I honestly felt like I could picture everything so clearly. Very passionate, open-hearted, and honest. Remember to stay strong <3
Thank you for reading it
Hello! First off, I really do like the concept behind this poem, it's really intriguing to say the least. There's a fair amount of imagery that really sets the tone of the piece, as well. I agree with Pearl though, there are certain stanzas that are pretty contradictive, but could really work if you maybe find a different way to word it. And with the rhyming-not rhyming issue, Rhymezone.com is a huge help if you haven't heard of it yet. You just type in the word you want to rhyme with and it gives you a list of words that (of course) rhyme with it and even categorizes them by syllables; which is super helpful when you're restricted by syllable counts.

Otherwise this poem is really awesome! With some minor tweaks and consideration, this piece could really be something special and I'm eager to read more of your works
Ahhh thank you so much for this helpful criticism, I probably should've made a second draft with this one. I will try to tweak a few things
Hi summerlovee! Whatcha here for a quick review
Okay - overall, loved it!
You have some rhyming, some not. Maybe you could make it all rhyming or all not? It may be me, but I like either rhyming, or not rhyming.
Love the concept. However, isn't no-man's land a war-related thing? Is that how it's meant to be in this poem?
If you've found peace in the quiet, then why are you facing your Goliath?
These are all just my opinions, though, and I do love your poem. Keep writing!

Hello
To answer your question, yes the no-man's land is meant to be a reference to the war thing. I used it to symbolise how even with the constant overload of feelings and other stuff that I face, there's always a middle ground that I can go to where it's quiet (I know that realistically it probably wasn't quiet during war but the idealistic side of me decided to use it :p). For the Goliath thing, in my experience, when I have to time to actually slow down and reflect, there are many things I have to face that I wouldn't have otherwise done. This may be regrets, anger, and feelings of doubt whether it be directed towards myself or another person, that's why I decided to add that contradicting stanza. Anyhow, thank you so much for the criticism, I will be reviewing this and changing it, especially due to the inconsistency of the rhyming pattern. Again, thank you for reading it
You're welcome
It's really good, as it is, too.
