**I just want to apologize for the length of this piece...I just kind of started writing and didn't stop, and when reviewing it later, I realized how long it really is. But please, bear with me through it and give me whatever comments you can think of for it is much appreciated. Thanks lovelies!**
That moment when reality
Pulls
you from a novel you were so
grossly involved in is
mind-altering and I can’t help
but sit and absorb the dead
silence that clouds my ears.
It isn’t long before I realize that
I am not paralyzed
and I must recollect my bones
and piece them back together,
connecting each part of myself
and making a whole person
who can function in the world
Around them.
Reading is strange.
It brings out my imagination
and allows for me to escape
into a world entirely not my own.
I have an excuse not to talk to anyone
and I have a reason to join
with another
and invest myself in their
many woes and triumphs.
I enjoy being right beside
Characters
as they travel through their
Adventures
where they so kindly allow for
Me to join along.
Sometimes we all need
to escape from the solid
Earth we find ourselves on,
and travel through the door
into another universe,
where we may meet new people.
And although they may not
know that we exist,
or remember us after we are gone,
we will always remember them.
We travel into these universes
as blank slates,
ready to be marked and
Influenced
for the better;
Because these people -
these characters -
teach us lessons.
Maybe these people bleed
Opulent
Black
Ink.
And maybe that’s okay,
because despite that difference
between us and them,
we accept each other
with no judgment.
And that is something
I crave daily.
These people do not judge
the way I live my life
because they are too
invested in their own,
and I want to get
invested in theirs too
in order to leave mine.
Physically here
Mentally gone
Only to return when that
Knock
On our door
jerks us from our involvement
in their lives,
and forces us to pay attention
to the world that we
can sadly, firmly, call
Earth.
We don’t want to leave,
But we must,
and we must remember
that those people -
Our friends,
Our lovers,
Our enemies,
will be there for us.
Waiting to continue their stories
for when we are ready
to return to their written lives
Again and again.

My, oh my.
Great piece here, Rothwise!
I found no grammar or spelling errors, which is great.
One wouldn't think that a poem about reading could be so passionate!
I feel like if someone who "doesn't read" were to read this, they would feel like they're really missing out on life. This is wonderful.
I really like the way that you've personified the characters in the stories you're reading; how they don't judge you, and how they are always there to tell you a story. Beautiful.
I have no nitpicks, which is a rarity! This was my favorite stanza:
Great work; please keep writing!

Aw thank you, this is all really nice of you to say! I'm glad you liked reading it so much
I always really appreciate when you read and review my work, so thanks!!
Ah, the feeling is mutual! I love finding a review from you in my notifications.
I really like this poem, it has a few rough edges, but they're only minor mistakes (ones that I find I make a lot myself X3). The only thing I can find to improve on here is the layout. As I was reading this piece I noticed some of the stanzas had something... missing, which I later found in another part of the poem. I feel that there a couple of these stanzas that should be... blended together somehow. However, that is entirely up to you, and the only thing I could find to improve on.
Overall your word choice was excellent, I liked the creative way you used punctuation in this piece, and it was a good poem.

Keep writing!

Ah, yes, I'm always open to new ideas for ways to improve upon my works! Any particular stanzas that you thought should be blended more together, or any word choices specifically that would help smooth out the rough edges? I'm open to any critiques you have! Thanks!
Sure thing! Okay, well I was reading I noticed that the stanzas where you were explaining your emotions were a little more wordy than they needed to be. And I feel like the poem would flow better if these stanzas were summarized using more figures of speech; mainly metaphors and similes . And blended into a couple other stanzas. Though perhaps not so much like getting rid of 2 stanzas and making a new one with both parts of both of the stanzas, but only certain parts of certain stanzas being switched around and blended together. Sort of like a strange type of jigsaw puzzle I suppose?
I'm sorry if that didn't make much sense ( I'm not at all the best at explaining things) but all the same I hope this helps! ^^

Here there!!! MysteryMe here for a review!!!!

Just want to say, I really connected with this piece, specifically because I'm such a heavy reader myself and I could definitely relate to everything you said. Reading books is practically my life. It's my escape from reality and a way to have an interesting experience even when everything is so boring. You've pretty much displayed that perfectly in your piece of work, so nice job
You also discussed how it's almost hard to go back to reality after reading a really captivating novel, which again is something I can relate to. Books are just so awesome XD.
Anyways, I though the word choice you used was very nice, and the entire concept was extremely interesting. The flow was nice and smooth, and overall I think you did a great job on this.
My favorite stanza was by far...
"Physically here
Mentally gone
Only to return when that
Knock
On our door
jerks us from our involvement
in their lives,
and forces us to pay attention
to the world that we
can sadly, firmly, call
Earth."
So true, and so meaningful. I really connected with it.
Anyway, I hope this helped!!!! Keep writing, you're good at it
Yes, thanks! I really appreciate this review! I'll be honest, I was worried after I wrote it that it was choppy and hard to read...so hearing that it flows smoothly is incredibly nice to hear! I'm really really glad you could relate and that you enjoyed reading it! You're amazing, thanks.
wow! there was a lot captured in this poem and it really made me think deeply, more than you may have originally intended. I didn't really notice any spelling or grammatical errors. For the most part, the poem seemed to have an excellent rhyme and flow that was both easy to follow and kept my attention while touching on several different topics and feelings which I think we could all relate to, to a certain extent. It had a very strong ending as well that I enjoyed. I think it reminded me personally that there is a writer of sorts in all of us (or artist, or visionary, or dreamer, or whatever you want to call it). We all have our own personal idea of the perfect world, which we can try to create through our work as writers. Keep up the good work! You've certainly got some talent here!
hah, thank you
I'm really really happy you enjoyed it and that it made you think - I love it when my pieces have the ability to make someone think deeply, so that means a lot that it affected you in that way. Thanks so much!
