I like the idea behind this chapter. It’s a pretty cool thing to imagine; a deserted, post apocalyptic kind of mall. I definitely felt the bond between Zayn and Shi. If you could continue to expand on that I would really like it. My favorite thing in this chap was when you described the raven as mother like. I also remember the description of Zayn breathing out a cloud of cold air as he walked up the escalator.
So I liked a lot of things, and I had good visuals throughout. But I definitely think this still needs editing. Some sentences just felt odd and there were a couple of things that didn’t seem to make sense. But I mentioned them already so I’m not gonna go into that. I forgot about that beginning part with Ira until I went back up to the top of the page x) As far as I can tell, it’s just supposed to be a transition scene that tells us how Ira is doing.
Random comment, but I don’t think I’ve ever seen you write something like ‘Zayn put on his jacket’, it’s always ‘Zayn DONNED his jacked’ x) You’ve used ‘donned’ so many times in this story. I should’ve mentioned this earlier, but when you repeat words like that, it gets noticeable.
Hm, what else can I ramble about. I still don’t like how you use ellipses, but oh well. I think a lot of things would be more effective with just normal commas or periods. The way you have to trail off everything they say seems dramatic and unnecessary.
Gr I’m sounding so mean x( On a better note, this chapter made me like both Zayn and Shi a little more, which is great. Keep that up, I love character development. It’s my favorite.
Alright, next chapter!
So, I definitely think you do much better with longer chapters. When you slow things down, especially in your dialogue, all kinds of character and backstory and intelligence starts poking through. I love love love it J Awesome job with the conversation at the end- very clever. I really hope the next chapter starts with more of their conversation.
Well, I really don’t have much to say that I didn’t already say in the comments above. This is a great in-between chapter, I think. I can’t imagine how much pain Louis is in, and I’m so glad that Zayn is here to keep things interesting. If it wasn’t for him, your chapter would most likely have to be a bunch of ‘Louis felt like his insides were on fire from all the pain his heart was feeling’. I think it’s great that Zayn will keep Louis distracted from his own pain a bit, so it will make the story more enjoyable for us too
I get the feeling that I’m missing something from Louis’s comment about Eden. I saw that you edited a lot of stuff, but I read this before I looked back at the old chapters so… I’m thinking why would Louis be mad at Eden?
Sorry if parts of this does not make sense, It’s late right now so I don’t know if my grogginess makes me sound stupid.
