If you Stole my Notebook...

If you stole my notebook

and peeked inside the pages of my heart,

You will see a mess.

Words of romance and darkness disarray.

The things I can't confess,

The feelings I know I can't say.

* * *

If you stole my notebook

and peeked inside the pages of my heart,

You'll see it's not full of pretty things.

You'll see my fears of what tomorrow brings.

And how much I loathe you, the monster that I am.

To fear or be feared, who will give a damn?

* * *

If you stole my notebook

and peeked inside the pages of my heart,

You'd see the love story we never had...

  the same dull cliche of boy meets girl,

Who would throw their hearts in an unfamiliar whirl.

Through the subtle friendship, with looks too long for chance,

Then end up dancing around the 'what if's' of this should-be romance.

* * *

If you stole my notebook

and peeked inside the pages of my heart,

Perhaps you might see

A dream that died and its elegy.

Or maybe it was just a fancy,

A passing fad or fantasy.

A distant, unreal and foolish reverie,

of the past of you and me.

Bravo, Waltzing!! This piece... Ah, this piece... You truly know how to capture a lovestruck wizard's heart! Truly remarkable.
Btw, if this is out of real life experience and there are no other circumstances (like death or illness) in the way, let me tell you that it is never too late to tell this person how you feel... (unless they're getting married, but even then not even...)
Once again, remarkable!

I find that on quite a personal level I can definitely connect with this. It reminds me a lot of my own poetry in fact.

A few things I like: I really enjoy your use of words in this piece. I'm by no means a veteran, but I think I can say, with confidence, that you know what you're doing here. I feel that this was likely inspired by a real event, and if so, though it may not be my place to say, I give you my condolences. Your rhyming scheme is interesting to me. Although it may not have been intentional, it seems as though you flipped coins to see which ones would rhyme, so as to add to the effect that there is something very disorganized and chaotic about the mind of the narrator. I also enjoy your stanza structure in the last one, that being the Finale it completely changes the structure.

A few things I didn't like: I can't say that it really matters, but I do wish i could find some sort of pattern in the sentence structures and stanzas themselves. That's just a personal preference however and does not mean I dislike your work.

Final conclusion: I really enjoy this. It's heartfelt, and although a bit cliché'd, you played off the cliché very well. Especially the ending, where it's acknowledged that everything the narrator felt might have only been a fancy or a fad, but that it's still somehow important. I think we've all been there in life where someone says "well its just a dream of what could be" and we have a hard time explaining why it's so important anyways.

Darn it! Another sad piece of writing. What is with them all lately? Oh yes, this is a review. I MUST REVIEW!

I enjoyed the piece, I can tell you that. There's no real grammatical errors to pick apart, and I very much enjoy the words you used and the sentences you incorporated them into. It has a way of making you wish the notebook had happier contents, and I'm 90% sure that was at least somewhat your intention. Overall, the piece is good, and I liked it. You get the Charizard stamp of approval!

I'm not going to lie, this poem really pulled on my heartstrings. To explain how it feels to secretly like (or love) someone by the cliche scene: boy steals notebook, sees what girl wrote about him inside it, was a fantastic idea and I can totally relate to it! At least that's what I took from it, there were so many levels to this poem.
The second stanza was definitely my favorite. I love how it adds so much indecisiveness and angst to the poem. Where there is love and passion there is also anger. But the last stanza is incredible as well. I love the rhythm, especially in the last line: of the past of you and me.
I don't know where this came from, but keep writing more of it! You have something incredible and I"m definitely going to read more of you poetry.

thanks for leaving a review! ^_^

Ooh! The click, I feel it...
