Silver Wolves

Auroras dancing in the night sky,

tricksters standing in the moonlight

howling the ancient song's of their past.

They are not one to be meddled with;

for they are valiant as a lion.

Wolves resemble power that we cannot obtain ourselves.

They are figures many dream to be, or make art of.

Sprinting in the dappled moonlight, the silver wolves hunt.

The Hunt is a game all creature's play, even the sly silver wolves.

Deceit is one of their many common traits, legends made of them.

The Silver Wolves may be bound to chains, but they will always roam free.

Nobody will stop the Silver Wolves from their destiny, much less a mere human.

Claws sharp as knives, jagged teeth, matted, silver fur.

They reflect the past of their homeland-war and hardships.

Land that used to be luxurious, full with lush trees

now is a barren, devoid place.

The Silver Wolves will always be there to remind all of the past their homeland.

Hi Kat!

To start off I really loved this poem! It's very interesting and tells a rather intriguing tale. I find myself wanting to know more about these silver wolves? Why do they do what they do? How to they protect someone? Stop a war? What emotions do they invoke to those that they guard and protect? Where did they come from?

I find this poem to lack emotion, but it flows well besides that. I just find myself curious about this poem. I want to know more about them and understand why they are there. Anyhow, I found no mistakes with your spelling and I'm not the best at pointing out grammar so I say well done on that front.

Overall, I think you could expand on this and make it even more than it is now. How are the wolves important, to the readers' eyes? Did they have a specific purpose? I want to know how they tie emotionally with the readers' views. Hope this helps and keep up the work, Kat!

Sincerely, Aleta

Hello, darling! Here to review. I haven't read what others have said, so I run the risk of repeating them.

To begin with, I think that this poem has the potential to be really strong and leave a really cool, inspiring mark on people. This possibility, however, is undermined by a few little things that are easier to fix.

Your punctuation seems to be all over the place. You use a lot of semicolons in places where they shouldn't be - see: how to use a semicolon - and a lot of them don't even make sense as an artistic place to pause longer and take a breath. A semicolon is a moderate pause and breath, as compared to the quicker pause of the comma and the full stop of the period, and you have to know how that's going to affect your flow. I also feel like ending with the ellipsis was unnecessary and weakened your ending, and if you wanted it to be stronger you could just end with a period or no punctuation at all.

As a poet, you also have to watch your imagery. You rely on your images to convey emotion, scene, movement, tension, anything you want to convey, and without the images - without the words in the right order, with the punctuation that fits the words and the structure of the poem. As it is, I'm not getting a lot of images from this poem, and a lot of your lines of description sound like cliche wolf descriptions, which lead me to wonder what I'm actually supposed to be seeing here, besides cliche wolves.

Overall, not the best I think it could be, but it's not horrible. Keep writing!

Thanks! This helped me a lot.

Hellooooo

This was a good poem. I liked the imagery you created. The flow was consistent. It ended with the same pace that it started, and I liked that.

I've been having a weird day when it comes to the interpretations. I don't really know what this is about. I re-read this a few times, but I cant understand the meaning. There is an underlying emotion in this, but what exactly this emotion is, I don't know.

Perhaps help me with the interpretation? :P

(I'm going to be reviewing as I read, so think of it like a live review :p)
Oh I like the banner thing at the top of the piece.
I like the image that has been painted so far about the wolves, especially these two sentences (voices of spirit heard in the night
solemn with pride; standing tall).
Okay so I have finished reading it and I quite like it. :) However, I am really confused as to who these wolves are and who is narrating this poem (the persona) and just what kind of setting it is in. I don't think you explore deeply enough to elicit any kind of emotion from the reader because I'm just left feeling confused. You do write very well so there is a good flow to this piece and I am curious to find out more. Overall, it was a very good piece and thank you for sharing it. :)

Hia! Happy Review Day! -yay!!-

Okay, this was interesting. I feel like almost that the wolves are angels? Maybe? Maybe not?

It was definitely interesting for sure.

However, I just feel like the first line seems out of place. It just, doesn't go with this poem.

Maybe make a different first line, or adapt another line to be the first line.

Overall: Good, it makes me think of angels.

Negative: That first line, ah, just. Change that and I think it'd be better.

Good: I like it, just overall.

Cheerio,

Hey, KatGirl. I'm Nonny. I'll start off by saying that when I first clicked on this I did not expect that big title to be a giant picture of what the poem was called. I literally said, "Woah!" out-loud and was like o.0 I'm generally not into poems like this but I think yours was a good one. I noticed that you mentioned you have boring poems in the chat room and I beg to differ about that one.

To start off, I'm not going to do any sort of grammar patrol because I think you did a good job with punctuation. There wasn't many periods and lots of " ; "'s but I don't think it was a big deal.

I think that if you were to add more periods, they would go well like this:

A new dawn rises beyond the horizon
do not fear; the silver wolves will howl.
Voices of spirit heard in the night
solemn with pride; standing tall
the wolves will guide in times of war.

I'm not going to continue on like that because I don't want my entire review to be pasting what you already wrote. I will say that you probably get the picture about it though! I like how you put a picture in my mind about wolves when you said the last two lines mentioned above. When you think of a wolf, you think of it sitting, howling at the moon. You think of them of having pride in their stances.

The lines: "silent prideful warriors; that guard the night / find your own path in the stars; / with the wolves that protect our sky" were simply amazing. Wolves are not my favorite animal but you certainly make them sound very majestic.

Overall, I really enjoyed this poem. I don't have many bad things to say about it and I really do look forward to seeing more from you. Thanks so much for sharing!
