Nostalgia:

This was the first piece I was horrified at when I joined the site.

It seems my YWS legacy is to make lasting first impressions. You are not the first person to tell me this.

I see you've been keeping bad company.

For places other than this site, I think the title would lose some value. I would suggest changing the title depending on the area it is located to something like ASCII perhaps. The poem itself is very amusing and I enjoy the way you leave it up to the reader to interpret how to read the last line, either what has my life come to, as a statement of self reflection, or "what has my life come to?" as a statement more about what is life doing to us that this is where we end up?

The minimalistic style which reason talked about is the best part of the poem. Cherish your muse forever for giving you this gift.

You suggest that you are perfecting ASCII boobies in this poem, however you never make a significant development I feel would have added greatly to the work.

I applaud you, my good sir. This is absolutely magnificent.

You set the scene in the most minimalistic style, simple, to the point -forget capitalization because poetry is serious business.

The progression is gorgeous. It's watching a caveman's rendition of beauty to an idealized impressionist's work and ultimately leading to a surge of realism.

The speaker holds back on commentary, allowing us to imagine the scene -the dialogue between visionary and would be ASCII artist. Evidently, the visionary wouldn't question this so the speaker is evidently the aspiring ASCII artist. Doubt crawls in the back of their mind as he or she wonder to him or herself: wasn't I destined for greater? I had once thought of myself to be the master of my own fate, but here I am "perfecting ASCII/boobies" and let me tell you.

It's genius! It's revolutionary.

"Boobies" acting as a metaphor of the source of life. By reevaluating where it all begins, the artist wonders to himself or herself: how did they get this far only to return to the very beginning? It's deep. It's moving.

Kyllorac, my question for you is: why that title? The word artist and reason are rare bedfellows. You could argue that by trying to get across this metaphor through ASCII simplistically, idealized, and realistically is his or hers natural progression towards finding the reason they dabble in ASCII artwork in the first place.

I'm not buying it.

Best. Poem. Ever.

"You, who have all the passion for life that I have not? You, who can love and hate with a violence impossible to me? Why you are as elemental as fire and wind and wild things..."
