Slow Down

These days
The universe has turned into a bisexual cocoon.
All the colors mixing and kissing
And laughing,
Popping cartoon style across my poor
Influences.
Like, teacher,
What does it mean when the cuts in her eyes
And the trembling in her fingers
Turn to lillies under your skin?
Mom, you were young once,
What does it mean
When he reaches up
And so gently,
Unexpectedly,
Untangles the apple blossoms in your hair
And throws them away?
Father Jerry,
You can help me out,
What does it mean
When the world dies around you and
All that's left is the spirling seashell
Above your head?
Mrs. Parker,
These days the world has turned into an eye dazzling
Circus pinwheel, and everyone says
Slow.
Down.
But there are too many colors to breathe,
And not enough people know how.
Can you teach me?

This is just excellent. I don't find many poems written with this level of craft. Please give me some insight into your inspiration for it. "But there are too many colours to breathe,/ and not enough people to know" - I definitely am feeling that, really understanding it in my own way. I love using the word 'colours' in my own poems because it represents a spectrum; essentially covering all outcomes and experiences.

I will read some of your other material because I think our poetry styles are complimentary (mine left wanting after reading this!)

Regards, Nomad
