Leave a message after the BEEP!

Hi! I can't get to the phone right now, but if you leave your name and number I'll get back to you when I can! Thanks! BEEP!

I never meant to hurt you.
I only wanted to protect you.
If only I would've known,
I would've never done what I did.
*
I have excepted the fact
That second chances don't exist.
I know you will never be mine again,
And that physically hurts me.
*
While I know you have moved on,
I have to say that I apologize.
My actions were out of line,
and I take full responibilty.
*
This is not a message trying to win your love,
Or trying to gain your respect back.
I know I am not deserving of either,
and your beautiful love deserves better than me.
*
I'm sorry for everything!
I just hope you know that!
I wish you all the best,
and I hope you become all you want to be.
*
End of message.

Hi, I'll be reviewing your poem.

I found the poem to be very realistic, it seemed like perhaps a break-up in a relationship. I think you organised your stanzas neatly and they flowed well together like a narrative story but remaining poetic at the same time, although I would've liked to see more of the poetic element of this poem but I realize in this context it's more of a conversation than a poetic piece, but heart-break can be poetic, despite it's poignant or sad connotations that come with it. It was interesting me that it wasn't quite clear if the narrator is in the wrong or not, it's unclear whether they are the sole reason for the break-up, it's very ambiguous. They seem almost still in love with the other person but are willing to let go, which is good I suppose.

I also liked how you separated the italics and the standard format words so it seemed more like a phone voice message.

However, there is always room for improvement so I have a few suggestions which may be beneficial to you.

"Hi! I can't get to the phone right now, but if you leave your name and number I'll get back to you when I can! Thanks! BEEP!"

I think you tend to use too many exclamation points, it makes the narrator seem a bit over-excited which doesn't quite fit in with the context. There is particularly too much emphasis on the word or sound rather, "beep", it has everything, an exclamation point, italics, in bold and is capitalised in upper case letters, a bit of toning down would be better.

"I have excepted the fact"

There's a spelling error here, it should be *accepted*, as opposed to "excepted". Be sure to spell-check your work and read over it afterwards to avoid minor errors.

Overall, well done and I hope this review was of help to you. Keep writing!

This is really sweet, and if it actually was real then it would be even sweeter and nicer! First off, I'll start with your creativity on this. None, not one single poet I've seen has written a poem that revolves around a phone voicemail. That shows some genius in here in just the beginning!!

I like that there's no specific "he" or "she" or gender names, because either way a man/woman could leave that message. The start makes me think of how it's a breakup, because there's obvious rejection, hurt feelings, loss of love, another person who replaced the previous one, sorry's, and what the caller should have done.

The only typo/mistake I see is "I have excepted the fact" which should be changed to "I have accepted the fact." The sooner it's fixed, the smaller number of times you have to hear it over and over from other viewers.

I can see you've put it all in the same tense- present, so that's a good sign when a writer doesn't keep switching past and present.

Your stanzas are perfect. Your capitalization and punctuation are perfect. The italization is well put so it stands out as the message/beep before and then the closing so it's not thought of as part of your stanzas.

Kind of sad, when you see the overall work. But it's very realistic and can happen. People experience this thing, so it's good that you can relate/connect to other poets who have been through this stuff or are familiar with it.

In ending, you have done a fabulous job as a writer, poet, friend, and person who puts herself out in the spotlight and keeps going no matter what. I'm proud of you!! :) :) It's so awesome that we have tons of poets on here. I loved your poem, and reviewing it makes me feel like I know it even more!! Can't wait to hear from you again!!
