1st Napo Poem/lyrics: I Will Not Be Broken

I'm not goanna let you get away with this
you burn me to the ground
and you tell me not to make a sound
but I'm not goanna let you burn me down
cause I will get back up
I will not be stunted
no I will not be broken
I will get back up
even if you try to push me down
there's nothing you can do
to hurt me more then you have
because I'm stronger then I used to be
I will fight back
for I've given you
a chance to say
your sorry for this
but now I'm over it
I will not let you brake me down
for last time
was the final time
and shell never happen again
for I will not be broken!

One small movement
one push to many
now I'm a broken vase
and there's nothing here
that can put me back to gather again
you've cracked me once to many
so don't shun me just because I'm broken
for you can no longer
glue me back to gather
like you where able to before
its not my fault you pushed me to far
and maybe now
you can learn from this.

Hi Doss! Great start to NaPo here. I really like the recordings-you have a lovely voice! The first one sounds soft and fragile but then gets harder and more confident as the piece goes on.

Oh poems and recordings! You've got a great start Doss - so much of that first poem just pulls at my heart strings, the speaker is so resolute and done with the subject's actions. Really pleased to see you doing NaPo this year and excited about what we'll see!

3 Napo Poem/Lyrics

Confusion, emptiness,
and a feeling of sadness
am I lost in the skies
as one comes up and fly's
they've come to save me
but there's nothing left in me
so when will the wind
finally be kind
to the many clouds in the air
because they know that life's not fair
so I'll have to say goodbye
as I fly into the sky.

Note: This was my attempt at trying to rhyme so it might not be very good.

I'm under the cover of darkness
but everything feels empty
is this what it's like
to be told lies your hole life
how did it become
that distrust was excepted
how do I believe the truth
when your so dishonest
I will not
fall for your skims again
you've told me enough
for me to know
that I can't trust you
does it give you joy
to see someone suffering
why have you done this to me
what did I ever do to hurt you
I guess this is why
where so different
truth, lies I can't keep separating them
so I'm done with this
and I'm a walk away
and never come back
to this
because I'm over it
and I can't take it no more

I feel like
I'm walking through a desert
but even in this wilderness
there can be hope
even in the dry land
you can find water
and as I look for it
I remember
that even when I feel like I'm all alone
I never really am
because there is always
someone watching over me
ready to help me
when I'm in need.

6 Napo Poem

When I'm cooking
and I put something in the oven
I always wish that I could go into
so that the food won't be taken out
and we can burn together
my heart cooked
until it know longer pumps
and my brain burnt
until I know longer live
and slowly my body
will turn into ash and smoke.

How do you
love someone
that you don't even know

when you struggle
to even love yourself
and all your family

why do I feel so distant
to everyone
even though I try
to fit in so hard

is it my personality
or is it
because they don't like me

I'm lost in my thoughts
and these are the day's
that I wish I could read your mind

Maybe then I'd know
what you truly think of me
and all those around you.

Hope is like a tornado
crashing down on my heart
that no longer exists
it broke a passion
that I wished I still had
and I'd worked so hard for it
Ash is like the smoke
that clouds my memorie
I'm trying to choke up
gray images
that no longer make sense
all I see is a blood stained past
that I shell never
want to view again
one would wonder
why all the photos on the walls
are from when I was younger
but there is nothing to show
of my older years.
