I've been working since I was 14 : / I'm a coach at my local gymnastics gym, and I love it. It can be pretty exhausting since I'm working with kids the entire time, but it's helped me realize that I want to be a teacher. The good thing about it is that I have the same hours every week, and my boss is very flexible with scheduling. I also do lifeguarding over the summer since I don't get paid much as a coach, but I don't like working many hours during the school year.
It really depends on what you want in the job, especially considering scheduling and environment. I would recommend starting with minimal/ low hours, especially if you tend to have a lot of schoolwork. Also, ask around about where other people work if you haven't already, and see what they think about their jobs. If everyone says they hate a certain place, definitely don't go there, you feel?
AND, if you already have a kind of idea of what you want to do after highschool, try to look into jobs that could relate to what you want to do. (ex. if you want to go into education, see if your local daycare is hiring) I'm no expert, but these are the ideas I had.

I applied at the end of sophomore year and worked there the summer after as a teacher assistant for elementary school math (I think I worked with sixth graders for one two-week session, then fifth graders for another session?) It was pretty exhausting, but also kind of fun, and I learned some stuff as well since AoPS tends to be fairly advanced for math. They're expanding, though, and do have language arts and science classes too!

I also worked there during the school year as a teacher assistant for virtual office hours. That involved joining a Zoom for one or two hours a week. It was pretty chill-- I just did my homework if there were no students.

Overall, I liked it! Though I confirmed that being a teacher is not for me XD Dealing with kids was exhausting, haha. But I did gain useful skills in using different strategies to explain things and earned some money.

If you can find a job where you can also learn (like how I learned cool concepts with AoPS, since the sixth graders were exploring graph theory I think?), that would be amazing.

Tutoring might also be an option? I've heard of some students doing that.
