And! Our NaPo Info Thread is up!

    Image

I am so excited for you all to see what the Poetry Crew has in store for you this April. And really really excited to read everyone's poetry too. (Did I mention I'm excited for NaPo yet?)

If you're not sure what NaPo is and this just seems like a lot of alphabet soup to you so far, we'll have a FAQ thread out soon, but for now I'd encourage you to read the Information Thread. Basically NaPo is a month of poetry fun starting April 1.

    To participate in NaPo:

    1) create a NaPo thread in the NaPo Forum for posting your poetry in April.
    2) watch for the upcoming Badge / Contest Thread to read about our specific challenges you can participate in.
    3) jump into poetry jams, contests, and activities all April long! :)

~ watch for more NaPo prep and brainstorming opportunities this March too (like the upcoming Poetry Reader's Session!!) ~ #countdowntonapo #bringbacknapo #napo2023

  • 17 jam jars left!

Since April is fast approaching, it's time for some... #NaPoGoals !

I've thought of three for this April:
    - Use rhyme in all my poems! My past two NaPos have been mostly free verse, and I'd love to do some rhyme in this new month.
    - Write at least 20 poems. Ideally 30, but I'm not sure how feasible that is for me this year. So I'm aiming for 20!
    - Read. More. Poetry. That was one of my goals last year, and I didn't do it as much as I would have liked. So I'm setting it again and making up my mind to work towards it and read as many threads as I can!

    Tagging some other poeting folks to share their goals: @lliyah @rida @Euphory @Liminality @LadyBug @Seirre @figmoon @spatula @tatteredbones @Quillfeather @LadySpark @FireEyes @Lucrezia @Thediffident @4revgreen @Que and anyone who sees this!

Liminality Ooh I love that rhyme goal! Best of luck!

lliyah Thank you for the tag! And those are some great goals! :)

  • Poetry Readers wrote:Heads up, you could be discussing a Taylor Swift song at a poetry discussion!!

Hello hello! With NaPo coming up, we're having a special song lyric discussion for our Poetry Readers pad this March! The date/time will be (adjusts to your timezone). You can bring song lyrics from any musical artist you like to discuss. Some examples of the things we might talk about would be favourite lines, how the language of the song makes you feel, etc.

As usual all YWS rules and the content rating system will apply to the pad. Said pad will be posted in the Poetry Readers club and on the People's Tab.

We hope to see you there!

    Week 4

It's time to get down to some #GreenRoomQueries ! To participate, have a look at works currently in the Green Room. Then, choose a work that interests you and go to the author's wall. Ask them a question or two about the work and add the hashtag #GreenRoomQueries . For example, you could ask what inspired the piece of writing, what are their plans for it, who is their favourite character to write, etc.

    Have fun!

    Week 3

It's time for some Mad Libs Poetry! To participate, choose any poem—it can be one you've written or one by another poet! Then, replace some of the words with the type of speech they are (noun, verb, verb ending in -ing, adverb, adjective, etc.), and then post it on your wall in a spoiler with the parts of speech above it! For an example, see this poem!

Once you've got your poem parts arranged, post it on your wall with the hashtag #MadLibsPoetry. Then go around the People tab and fill in others' templates with the words you come up with!
