Love Me Not

E - Everyone

In Poems

I always miss my aim at the garbage can.

I forget my umbrella and get wet in the rain.

I get confused with left and right.

I'll stay upset the whole week if we get into a fight.

-

I never know what to say.

Experience a million mood swings in a day.

Dreamy enough to stay awake.

Never keep up with the plans I make.

-

I'm terrible with faces.

Can't even properly tie my shoelaces.

Always awkward socially.

Just smile once or twice, and I'll trust you easily.

-

I can never find my stuff,

even a dozen hints are not enough.

Never lived a day without stress.

I'm one hell of a mess.

I'm not sure if this will make sense or even be considered an accurate interpretation of the poem's tone, but I kind of felt that this was more of a sweet poem than a negative or self-deprecating one. It seems that the speaker is well aware of their follies, which for some reason made me smile -- I'm probably crazy, but I found it enjoyable (and even relatable) that they're able to point out so many little things that they notice about themselves, but others likely wouldn't.

I like that you mixed in small issues (shoelaces) with bigger ones like living a day without stress; it sort of balances everything out and this combination of serious and silly is what gave off more of a sweet vibe than anything else.

In terms of suggestions, this is a stylistic one but I was thinking that this poem may benefit from a lack of capitalization, if that makes sense. I am personally a fan of messing around with caps in order to change the intended interpretation/tone of a piece and I feel like this poem would be that much more significant if you added in that element of lowercase all throughout, but this is just a small personal suggestion.

All in all I like it! I enjoyed the relatively consistent rhyme scheme as it helped keep a rhythm running steadily in my head as I was reading.

Write on! <3

Thanks for the lovely review!
First off, you correctly guessed the intent of the poem! It's not a self-deprecating poem, rather a kind of acceptance and celebration of one's flaws. I wanted to convey the message that it's okay to have insecurities and I think this one conveys everything I intend to.
Secondly, unfortunately, I am not a fan of messing with text cases... Like I get low key OCD about it :| so I'll probably keep it te way it is...

Thanks again for the review! Means a lot, cheers!

**My Thoughts**

That opening line was great. It hooked me in, I knew this would be an unique poem right when I read that line. Hey @vagrant, LZ here with a review! Let me just say, I love this poem. I relate to (most of) this poem.

**Formatting and Grammar**

As for formatting, it was great! The poem looks very neat and clean. I appreciated how you only used four lines per stanza in this poem.

As for grammar (this isn't really grammar, but oh well), it was all good but one thing. Throughout the poem, you rhyme perfectly! Then at these lines:

I never judge a book by its cover.
I trust easily and later face trouble.

You decide not to rhyme. I sort of messes up the whole rhythm of the poem. Maybe change the words.

**Punctuation and Capitalization**

As for both these categories, they were both perfect! I liked how you did use punctuation, it makes the poem look neat.

**Other**

Don't worry, I'm also one hell of a mess.

**Quick Review**

Great poem! Just change something that didn't rhyme.

Keep on writing, this was a wonderful poem! Have a good Thursday!

Very very thanks for this review! Means a lot! As for the rhyming error, I can't really rhyme it. I've tried but no luck. Although if you see the syllable count they, rhyme that way...so yeah :p

Thanks again!!

I just changed those lines since I was having trouble finding a rhyming word :pp

Looks fantastic!

Hey there @vagrant . I just went through your poem and could relate with it so much. I often mention it to my best friends about being such a big mess myself. I don't know is it just our negative thoughts that lead our mind into thinking this way or is it just our bad luck that we get into trouble.
Anyways , getting back to your work. The things you described in your second stanza hit me hard ; I could personally imagine myself going through such emotions. I really felt connected here. It's good that you kept everything short and neat. There was a nice flow throughout your poem. I enjoyed your work. Keep writing!

Hey mate! Thanks for taking the time to write this. I understand your feelings totally. It's hard to always be a perfectionist, because in the end, well, we are human. We shouldn't feel insecure about who we are and accept our flaws. I am glad that the problems I mentioned were relatable to you. They are all real and this poem is very personal. So yeah, don't be ashamed because you're a mess. Big deal! We're all a mess. Just that some people act better than others:p

Hi vagrant. I am here to review your work. And to tell you that your work is beautiful. And.....
You have to know that there are people who has worst.(Ah! I sound like my teacher)You know what, I feel bad for myself even if it was just a piece of eraser. I agree with you I am a mess and so is the world.
Review time!
'I never judge a book by its cover.'
It doesn't fit with other line that goes after and before it. I am not sure if it was type O, or a mistake of writing in the first place. It would be better if you fix it.

'I trust easily and later face trouble.'
I think you should add a comma after easily. It not that important but you never know.
'I trust easily, and later face trouble.'

'I always miss my aim, at the garbage can.'
It's a little thing. You there isn't any reason to put comma after 'aim'. It doesn't have any conjunctions. And 'at the garbage can' is prepositional phrase.

As always no offense
Keep on writing

>Chris Dixon

Thanks a lot for taking the time to review! I will fix the commas, thanks for pointing that out.
As far as '..never judge a book...' line is concerned, it wasn't supposed to fit in with anything. In fact, every line is supposed to be an individual flaw, so if that's what you're saying, it was intended to be that way...

Thanks again for the suggestions!
Cheers!
